Can You Make Money Online With Article Marketing Today?

Marketing or promoting or advertising with articles has been used by webmasters to get more traffic and better search engine rankings for their websites for as long as the Internet as been around pretty much. But it's not something you can do once for a couple of days and not have to do again. It only works best when its done continuously for a long period of time before you really start to see results from it.

That said, article marketing doesn't work as well today as it used to because of all the recent Google Search Engine Algorithm updates. A lot of big article marketing sites took a bit of a hit and lost a lot of rankings and many of the sites that used them as a method to get traffic and build rank to their websites from them took a hit as well so a lot of people stopped using it as a rank boosting method.

What used to be good about article marketing sites is that many webmasters would use them for content for their own website. So you could submit an article to the top article marketing sites, and webmasters and bloggers etc would take those articles and put them on their own site or blog. And course those articles would contain your links as well. The only rules to using them would be if they kept the original links in them such as the links you'd put in the body area or in the resource field of those articles.

This was great because it meant that you could build some related links to your site then as well. Because obviously if you've got a site about puppy training tips, webmasters would put your articles from those article sites on their websites or blogs that are about puppy training tips or about dogs in some way. So you could build some related contextual backlinks to your site that contained your keywords in them. Also if those sites got traffic as they often did quite easily, those same articles could send you organic traffic from them as well.

The good thing about article marketing is that it can still be used today to build traffic and backlinks to your site. But you need to be much pickier about which article site you submit them to as well. Also those big sites that do still accept submissions usually have strict minimum requirements for your content such as it needing to be a minimum length and only contain repeated keywords so many times. Or you might not be able to put a hyperlinked URL in the body of it or only use one link in the resource area only. That kind of thing.

Also, even those big article sites that do still accept submissions, they too have still lost a lot of ranking in the SERPS and don't receive anywhere near the same amount of visitors from search engines or webmasters using them for content for their sites. That's because now duplicate content doesn't help you to rank much and it's all about having unique content on your sites now not using articles that you took from some article site that has probably been used on a million other sites in your niche. Google just doesn't like it!

Yes! You can still make money online with article marketing. To make money with article marketing, one needs a website first that he/she can link to in those articles which then has your ads or products/services/offers etc for sale on it. It's like anything, if you drive enough traffic to it, and it's traffic that is already half interested in your thing (they clicked your article to find it) then you have much more chance of making a sale or getting a click and making some money from it. Obviously it all comes down to that, and how much traffic you're getting from it. But you can also sell your articles as well if you wanted to. Yes! While the above aforementioned things are true about article marketing sites. It doesn't mean to say that article marketing has had it's day and will never be used again. But mostly its for traffic, they will submit their articles everywhere not just article marketing sites, think web 2.0 sites, social media sites, forums, other blogs etc. Because an article is an article is an article. You can re-purpose that content again and again and again. Not only will you be gaining traffic from them but also be using them to build backlinks to your site on high authority sites which can go on to increase your ranking with in time.

Yes! It's very safe to use article marketing as a way to generate traffic and build backlinks with. This is not a black hat technique! Article marketing is a very legit way of getting the news out about your site, business, services or offers etc. Obviously you have to be a bit picky and choosy about where you submit your articles to today. There are penalties you can get from doing anything if you do too much of it too quickly and in the wrong way. Not just from Search Engines either but from the actual article sites you are trying to submit to. As far as Google penalties go, Google doesn't like duplicate content period. But the penalty only applies for the same site that has that content in another location not on a different site. And the sites themselves may have some penalties if you're submitting rubbish content that doesn't cut the grade. But that wont effect your site in anyway other than not being able to use that article site.

How many articles should you write and publish a day/week/month or year?

As said, article marketing only work best when its something that's done all the time, non stop for month on end. Some people don't see results with article marketing for a very long time. It might start slow at first, but eventually, as you write and publish more articles, more people will see them and more people will read them, pick them up and syndicate them for you on their own sites and on other places too like news sites or other similar sites, blogs or forums of related interest. But it's something that does only work best when you keep doing it for a long time. And if its building up your traffic and earnings more and more each time you do why would you stop?

How and when will you know that enough is enough?

Enough is never enough when it comes to traffic and earnings. If you're happy with earning $150 a month extra on top of your current income then fine. But if you want to increase that even more to the point where you're earning $1500 or $15000 a month then that would be better wouldn't it? So you'll only know when enough is enough by the amount of traffic and money you're earning from it.
