Did Google Penguin Panda affect Your Site?

After google penguin update, what happened to your site ranking? Have you got any penalty or problems you could see on Google ranking? I always say don't buy links that provides more than 2000+ this will decrease your authority value and will get sandbox from Google. Do you have any suggestion to beat penguin panda update?

Nothing has changed on all of my websites except 2 of them, which are related to sports betting niche for very tough keyword with a lot of SEO competition. They were both on pause for 6 months, without any SEO work done on them.

Main site was optimized purely whitehat, other with mixture of BH and WH. Both websites linked from private network of sites from the same niche, BH site had some BH work made on it.

WH site lost rankings for that keyword, from page 2 went out of first 10 pages.
BH site even improved it's position in Google.

I have a feeling this Penguin version won't last long, I fully expect my WH site to return to it's position or higher when Google bosses fix this.

Many affilite sites have been affected apart from amazon ones. I have to do a lot of research for my article writing and previously i could find all this on page 1. i now have to go to pages 3 or 4 to find good information and avoid all the shopping sites.

Some of my websites were affected and others no, I think it was penalization based on both off-page and on-page. That said, building quality backlinks seems to be more relevant, but having diverse backlinks is even more important now.

basic google webmaster guidelines remains same although some changes are being made in algorithm to detect spam, if you follow only one single line from google webmaster tool you will not be effected by any update, here is the single line:

"Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines."

Think you are user not a webmaster what you will like to visit any page?

@DrBinda No, I believe Penguin was a failure and most of sites will rank back themselves.

Funny thing, I have 2 sites connected, same niche, same keywords. Both connected to private network of smaller sites from same niche.

1st one has pure whitehat SEO done on it, 2nd one has blackhat (forum profiles, EDU blasts etc.)

Both sites lost their rankings on the most important keyword (more than 150k monthly searches, they were both on 2nd page in SERP).

I didn't do any SEO on them for 6 months, because they will get re-launched in a few months. Now 2nd one (blackhat) came back to the same position, has the same PR and I will try to get to page one in top 5, although I only have about 100 links pointing to it at the moment.

I have a list of DOFOLLOW Wikis, I will make 1 month SEO work on it. 60+ dofollow Wiki contextual links in next month with unique articles (all authority domains with PR 4 to 9), 100 EDU backlinks with low OBL and support backlinks with regular AA blasts with Scrapebox. I will also publish few articles manually to related sites. I will make a study case out of it and publish results.

Sites on 1st and 2nd page in SERPS for that keyword all have more than 20k backlinks and are old and PR3 to PR5, I will destroy them in 1 month. So I hope Did Google Penguin Panda affect Your Site?

It's always best to stick basics - get your on site tags right with wonderful content. Rest all will fall in place.

Many of my sites were affected negatively. It's apparently due to overoptimization of anchor text.

It is a mix of yes and no because we really don’t know if the Google updates have directly affected the sites. My take on the updates of Google is that it is to announce that there is a change in the algorithm but they don’t say exactly what it is all about. Isn’t it mysterious or suspicious that Google may just be hinting that we should toe the line when it comes to SEO methods that we should not abuse? Just my thoughts.
