Many startups will be working on a bootstrap budget and, that means they won't be able to invest in marketing, PPC campaigns, programming, design, etc. This also means they will need to use free methods to boost their views, traffic, and branding so they can become profitable and hopefully re-invest into paid advertising methods to pull in even more customers.
Using Facebook to build your business isn't unheard of, but it's not the easiest thing to do, so I hope the content within this discussion can help you out on your journey
Join niche-specific groups and post regularly
There are plenty of communities and groups you can join on Facebook in order to boost traffic to your website, but you have to be strategic when working within them. Otherwise, you'll get kicked/banned from the groups, and that bridge will have been burned.
Now then, you'll need to treat each group and community like its own forum where you're going to eventually do some marketing. You will need to provide quality content, help out the users who are asking questions, and you can't post your links right away because that's a sure-fire way of getting kicked. You can post links early on, but be sure those links are to very well known sites, so people know you're not trying to advertise your own business. Over time, you can start to drip in your links and funnel traffic to them, but not before you've built up a reputation within the group or community.
Run super-targeted ads to build your pages following
If you're looking to spend a little money on your Facebook marketing, then I would suggest you build the audience of Likes to your pages so you can advertise for free to all those people later on. Yes, you can essentially advertise to anyone that likes your page, but there's no guarantee they will see your posts when you create them. This is why you must have an active page, or at least make it look active by scheduling posts in advance, and you will be able to watch your page grow gradually over time.
Each of your Facebook posts should be amazing
You don't want to post "Here's our new page!" then link to your website. Instead, write something informative and link to a blog post or page of your website that relates to the post you just made. Think of your Facebook page as a blog and create unique content on it for your followers because that's what they want to see
Use the Facebook Pixel to retarget your visitors
A major thing you should be using is Facebook Pixel because it will allow you to advertise on Facebook to anyone that has visited your website. This means if you're running an Adwords campaign and have 1,000 clicks a day to your site, you can now show ads to all those people on Facebook, and it will increase the chances of getting a sale
Contact group admins and pay for a "featured" spot
A little trick I like to use when it comes to Facebook marketing is to contact admins of groups related to my website and pay them a little bit in order to get my post stuck to the top. I will either post or let them post about it, then get it stuck to the top of the page/group for one month, then I'll pay those admins again if the traffic was worth it. You'll need to use UTM tracking within your URLs for this to be accurate, you can even use unique bit.ly URLs, but no matter what you choose to do, be sure you can track where the clicks are coming from.
Final thoughts,
Facebook is a powerhouse when it comes to targeting and getting traffic to your website. You can use plenty of paid options as well as free ones and gain massive amounts of views on your pages or websites. If you do everything correctly, you will be able to build a massive brand with Facebook marketing alone, and you can pay teams of people to then do this for you while you count your money and sit on a beach in Fiji lol
