Paid promotion isn't too difficult to set up. All you have to do is go to the service you want to promote and choose the promotion you want to pay for.
Go here: https://www.seocheckout.com/manage_services
You'll see any of your services, active or suspended, and you can choose which you want to promote. There are two main promotion types, featured and category featured. The featured option is more expensive and is on a bidding option meaning the highest bid wins; the category feature is a static price meaning it will be the same no matter how many people buy it. The homepage featured is on a bidding system to give everyone a chance to show their services on the front page whereas the category feature is static because not as many people want to purchase it.
You can see the two options here:
You can choose to highlight your listing, which I'm not sure will increase your sales or not, but it's always an option. Bumping your sales thread will keep you at the top of your category for an undetermined amount of time, but it should help you bring in additional sales if done at the right times.
I've never done a homepage feature because it's been out of my price range for the longest time. I have heard great stories coming from those who were lucky enough to get a homepage feature. They paid for the featured spot and got sales almost immediately to their services. If you set it up just right, you can also funnel people to your other services and get a bigger ROI from your paid featured spot
As for the category featured spot, I've done that a few times for my writing services and I've seen plenty of people coming in and purchasing. I suggest testing out the category featured service first if you're not in a saturated part of the marketplace because you'll likely double or even triple your investment in the first week or two if your service is good I had a service that was 3x as expensive as anyone else in my category and still made plenty of money to have a good ROI, so I know you can do it as well
Hope that helps
