5 Easy Ways To Stop Your SEO Going Awry Without Even Thinking About It

Cooking is one of my best pastimes. I enjoy performing this exciting exercise. It is very fulfilling when you mix different ingredients to get a final delicious meal. Yet the meal can turn disastrous. The same happens with SEO. There are times when you mix up the ingredients wrongly and end up with a disastrous SEO.

Here are five ways in which this can come.

SEO Can Turn Awry With Stuffing Keywords

A keyword is the compass of an article. It gives direction to search engines and ensures that your article is found in SERPS and be ranked high.

Yet the same keywords may turn out to be the enemy of your SEO. If you jam your article with too many keywords or use a particular one consistently may result into keyword stuffing. This may hinder readability of your article. Ensure to stick to guidelines.

Your SEO May Turn Awry With Stuffing Of Backlinks

Backlinks happen to be the other backbone of SEO. Backlinks like a chain link you to other articles and websites with similar content. It thus increases the scope in which the article it your websites is seen and read by others. It links you and attracts more traffic.

Since all freelancers need their content viewed widely, they may do backlink stuffing. This will turn your SEO to become a big flop.

Plagiarism May Turn Your SEO Awry

Plagiarism is copying verbatim the content of another writer. This is a serious crime in freelancing and writing. No two writers can write using the same words ever. Each has their own style of writing. When one quotes from another writer then it is wise to include the link to that particular blog. This is citing the source of your content. If you do not do, then you have plagiarized.

Copy Pasting Content May Turn SEO To Be Awry

There are lazy writers who just copy a particular article and pastes them in a site of their choice. It is like plagiarism but plagiarism also entails ideas or part of content while copy pasting is taking the whole text. Some change the title but others use the same title. Images too are copied and pasted.

SEO Can Turn Awry If  One Does Not Take Enough Time To Research And Write High-Quality Articles

Quality is what sells your content. Quality can be achieved by research. What do people want to read? What problems and questions do they have that you can provide answers! Then go ahead and write a powerful SEO and you are meat.

Conclusion

We all are learning something new. We can learn about SEO and produce high powered SEO articles. A good learner will finally become a master. The fact that your SEO might turn awry should not stop you from trying. One time you will be a master. Making a mistake once is not a problem but you can rectify it with time. Never, ever, give up in life or on anything.

Those are some good tips on things that you need to avoid in order for SEO to work effectively. Bad Backlinks, Plagiarism, and Low Quality Articles are things that should really be avoided, because of their negative effects.

We cannot help making those mistakes. It is sorely because error is to man and sometimes we just get careless. Sometimes it tires to write while thinking of SEO all the time. There is much joy when we just write.

It seems that plagiarism is getting to be prevalent now because I have come across several forums where there are posts about their contents being copied. Some have posted a part of the content that was copied by another site. And some say that there were changes to the copied content but it is still reminiscent of the original which gives an obvious indication that it was copied.

ACtually about the first point over there I know of clients who specifically say the number of keywords that you can put in any article they have given you. If you go over the maximum number even by a single word then you are simply ruled out. It is always about how one will stay grounded on the rules.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Well, if I am working for a client according to the rules that he set fore, then there is no big deal on that. One thing that is necessary is that doing your possible best to keep everything you do simple.

Yes it is always great to adhere to whatever rules that one is supposed to follow. You prove to clients that you are someone they can hire even in the longterm if you can follow the simplest of rules. The one thing that clients love is their instructions to be ensured such that unnecessary edits are avoided.

There are some who demand the opposite. I worked for one client who requested a 500 word article and wanted the keywords (which was actually a phrase) to appear in the article 70 times. Try hard as I could, I just couldn't use that phrase 70 times as he wanted.

I don't know thought old SEO strategies still worked.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
@jeane It is madness asking 70 keywords intensity in a post of 500 words. That is 7:50. I wonder how that can be done.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
If it was one word it could have been possible to have that in maybe every other sentence. But two words?

Imagine how hard it could be to use the words "tow trucks" 70 times in a 500 word article. You are left with only 360 words to write something that will pass on some information about the business, its location, etc.

It was impossible.

There actually seem to be too many rules to follow. At times you wonder if they want you to write an article of keywords only.

100 percent agree with this. SEO can go very very wrong, even if you do it according to how you have been taught. You need to be very careful how you implement your SEO. You need to be aware of the constant Google updates. Google updates keeps changing the way things are done. Seo is a constant changing field. Right now I think that the most important thing is writing quality content, that will put you back high on the Google map.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

nrnlss
True, you really have to exert some efforts in researching since it constantly change.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is only through google updates that you can keep abreast with SEO. Keeping abreast will put you on top of the chat. You are right about this.

I agree with you that keeping it simple with SEO and getting to do the right things while expecting a better result is all that matters. I wouldn't be looking at how I going to continue doing things that won't benefit me better at the end of the day as a site owner and this is one reason we shouldn't try to overdo the things we do with SEO while aiming for higher ranking.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My belief is that if we do things with moderation we can really go far. Balancing between SEO and what your readers actually need is important. SEO is for search engines while a good read is for the readers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I agree with you. Don't be too desperate too, as there may be times that because of desperation, people tend to break and avoid the rules and standards. It's best to observe moderation.

I think if you don't do SEO you tend to make more mistakes. And another thing is that some of the time SEO does have it's own share of the issues. I think a lot of SEO changes requires you need to take some effort. Yoast seems to be a good blog to start with. I think SEO will only change in terms of the credibility in near future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The future often comes with its own changes. We always change with change. We bent in the storm and rise up with the wind.
If we remain aloof we might break up.

Good to know! The concept of less is more often comes into play with keywords, it seems. Just jamming in as many as is humanly possible isn’t a good idea and it really makes you deliberately consider which to use.

Keyword stuffing is usually labeled as Black Hat SEO. Generating backlinks from link farm, private blog network, or link wheel are also black hat SEO. SEO delievers the result only when you are doing it properly. Sharing too many links through anchor text can also hamper your SEO efforts. Sharing too many links means giving away traffic, which is not good for you site.

I always appreciate your input on SEO based topics, @vinaya - your perspective on things is interesting and since you have a great deal of experience I always value what you have to say. Good to know that too much or not enough when it comes to SEO both have their own sets of problems.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
Yeah, @vinaya is well versed on SEO matters. It happens with being online for long. When you have worked as a freelancer and blogger for a long time like @vinaya, you become a guru on this matters

Good tips @vinaya. Generating keyword is one thing and using them properly is another. We are learning on the job though.

I appreciate your tips and you explained those things very well. Just a basic to most important reminders. And I like the last part of your topic which is your conclusion. "A good learner will finally become a master" - very good point. I also like how you inspire your readers that we should NOT stop even we unfortunately ended it up to a failure. But if it is not really working fine at all, then maybe it is not meant for us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Giving up and throwing in the towel has made us lose people who would have made it big. They often do this when they were about to succeed. Encouragement is what they need to make it big.

It will always be in doesn't to one general rule, "follow the rules given to you." There could be times when a person becomes overwhelmed with his writing, thus forgetting the essence of the right amount of keywords. Always be focused and don't be freak out as it will affect you in many ways.

Good advice here. We have to learn and keep abreast with updates. We finally make it. One or two errors should not stop but build you

Plagiarism can cause serious problem to your website and to you as the author that's why it is better to use online tools to check your content before publishing it. Do not just copy and paste if you found any content that you think is appealing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
Yeah! Despite temptation holding or taking the better of you just stop and do right. You may cite the source if the site supports.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. Plagiarism will not only affect your site, but also your life and your family as well, especially when you are being sued. Oh, no, that's terrible.

Talk about things taking the wrong turn. I have on many occasions read posts which bored me halfway through due to one or several of the above reasons. It is always important to observe keenness when making an article such that you do not include the above errors. It can flip from exciting article into one that is viewed by no one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are right. The wrong thing is trying to do something that backfires and brings the opposite results.

Points well elaborated. But any writer who copy paste or plagiarizes work should expect nothing in return. To start with, the writer has failed, and I highly doubt if the website of such a writer will survive.

In terms of keywords, every client or site owner has different preferences. I have worked for clients who demand the keyword to be repeated so many times, while others want the keyword to appear severally.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
The client is always right and we honour their views. However, it is good to show them the best way out. Pointing to them politely what is good in the eyes of search engines is normally good.

I like the parting words you said in the article - "Never, ever, give up in life or on anything." This is the first time I've ever read an article from you, and I would like to thank you for sharing great tips and insights with us. I'm sure each and everyone will get to benefit from this and learn along the way. All the best!

I agree with you, I think that's the best too. And it is the most important thing. To never ever give up on things you really love.

"Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learning. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path."

Am honoured really. Honestly, I believe it is good never to give up. We often give up when we are almost reaching success. The most successful people are those who failed severally but never gave up

Plagiarism is bad for SEO because not having your unique content and copying someone else is not a good thing, you should be unique on every post that you are going to make.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Plagiarised never ever mind about this. Am almost dumbstruck with the intent in which they copy other peoples work. I normally wonder what heir motive is.

Don't copy, don't stuff and write your own original stuff seems like a good plan to me. I recently wrote for a place where people wanted cheap copy and it was amazing how many of the people seeking an author wanted to stuff the keywords in in a way I was sure was detrimental. I suppose people think that the more you shout a word the more google will notice it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

allyn2017
I agree with you, and also one day it will be back at you. Someday, someone will discover that you copied something from someone.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
That is not normally the case. Google will only notice if you do it right and playing by the book. Guidelines matter more in SEO success.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Keep in mind that plagiarized content adds no value to your website. Stealing someone else content is like intellectual property infringement.

Dressing in another persons clothes is in a bad taste. The clothes may be buggy, skin tight or wrong colour. The same happens with plagiarised work. Another danger is that it is criminal.

Thanks for the reminder about the taboo in SEO. Your list shows that it is not a good idea to be excessive in SEO methods for it can result into a sanction by Google and probably by other search engines as well. We do SEO work for the purpose of getting a good ranking in the search engines and overdoing it can give our site a low ranking like the stuffing of keywords and the excessive backlinks.

Although I am very new in this field I will say that overdoing anything can eventually be counterproductive. I can understand that there can be a tendency to try very hard and that will surely result in overdoing things and messing it all up in the end. Honesty and trying to find the right balance of efforts is very essential to achieve success in the long run

We need to strike a balance somewhere. Being online and working can be a challenge. A creative mind is all we need.
