When it comes to pulling in traffic, readers, sign ups, sales, and overall some leads you'll need to think about blogging because it can do it all. Yes, blogging is much more powerful than you think it could be and it's showing no signs of slowing down. Think about it, how many times have you landed on a website after searching a basic term within Google or another search engine? You landed on that website likely because of a blog post they made today, yesterday, last week, or last year. The content stayed on their website and grew to a full fledged lead generation power house because of how it was written and how it was optimized.
Blogging will help you build an image online, not just by adding words to your sub pages, but by putting your own voice within content that people want to follow. Each of your blog posts is like you're preaching to the congregation about the most amazing things you can think of, but if you do this wrong, they will see you as solely trying to get them to open up their wallets. You need to blog in a way that will encourage people to come in, browse around all of your amazing content, and want to open up their wallets or sign up to your newsletter without you constantly pushing it in their face lol
In this discussion I'll be going over why you should care about blogging for your business, and those reasons are:
Blogging builds your brand easier
When you're publishing great content, you're taking the first step into branding your website, which is something every successful business needs to do if they want to become the authority within their industry. Branding isn't something that happens overnight, but it is something that can come from blogging every single day and getting engagement within each post and responding to anyone that wants to know something or needs help.
Whenever you can get people on your website, you're doing the slightest bit of branding, and if you are getting massive amounts of content on your blog then you're going to get compounding results The more you blog, the more you're branding, the more traffic that eventually comes to your website, and the more engagement and sales you'll eventually get when you're a year or two down the road
Fresh content brings in plenty of search engine traffic
It's no secret that content is king, and that means your blog posts are consider one little king on each post, which the search engines would love to see. The search engines want to see high quality content written up in a way that doesn't constantly pitch the visitors of your pages. The search engines want to provide the best content within their search results, and this means you could get top rankings solely from your optimized content, which would send you massive amounts of content over time
How many times have you been searching through the results of a highly targeted keyword and found a bunch of garbage content? Never, because Google and the other search engines filter out the riff raff and only show quality to their searchers because they want each and every person to find exactly what they're looking for and be completely informed with just one article, not 10 different posts all talking about the same thing and having 1 little variation to their text.
Write up a lot of fresh content, optimize it for your readers as well as the search engines, and you will see the traffic spike as well as your bounce rate drop (which is a good thing lol).
People like to share informative blog posts
If you're writing a post that is 300 words long and you think it's the best thing out there, it's not, because someone else is writing something 10x longer with much more information and targeting the same people you are. What do you think will happen when someone lands on your 300 word post? They will read it in a minute and leave to find more information, and they'll likely land on the 3,000 word post that answers every single questions they could think of, then the person will share the post for anyone else to read if they want.
The time invested in writing longer posts isn't just so the search engines will like you better, even though they will, it's also for your readers so they don't have to find 2 or 3 articles to get all their questions answered. The more clear and consise your content is, the better it will resonate with your target market, and the more frequently it will get shared for the masses to find and come read as well
Quality content will increase engagement across your blog
Engagement is a big thing when it comes to blogging, I even touched on this earlier in this discussion, engagement is what gets you even more traffic and more love from the masses. Engagement can be anything from comments on your published posts to shares for other people to find you and read your content. If you don't have something good written up, no one will want to engage with it, so get out there and write up some great content to boost your engagement and inevitably boost your sales
In conclusion
Blogging isn't just putting content on your website, it's building your brand and giving the people answers at the same time, which will usually result in a better ROI overall. You should blog because you want to get the information within your head out in the open, and the masses will eventually flock to you after you've put in your time Businesses are starting to realize the importance of blogging, they're actually hiring entire teams to produce content for their following as well as all the people searching on Google, Yahoo!, and Bing. If the large corporations are seeing the importance of blogging, you should be taking notes, and getting your blog started if you haven't already
