If you want to be successful online, or offline, you need to know where to look and find the people who are already successful. Finding these people and companies, who are already successful, doesn't mean you're going to be browsing niche and industry related blogs. Sure, some of those niche blogs could be making some money, but they're likely not the bread winners within the niche. If you want to really see how a business is built, you need to focus on the people and companies who are building their companies from the ground up and not just through blogging.
Anyone in business will tell you that growing a successful business is hard and is backed by thousands of hours of work. If a business takes off out of nowhere in the beginning of its infancy, it's likely due to a random occurrence of events that won't carry that company for long. To actually build up a great company, even if you have some random spikes of traffic, you will need to invoke emotions within your community in order for them to help you build over time. You can't do everything on your own, and your employees can only help so much, so you'll need to call on the vast audience you're targeting to come in and love what you're doing. On the other hand, you need to be providing them with something of quality in order for them to even want to help you out.
Exponential growth of a company is a great thing, as long as you can handle it and manage all the growing pains in a timely manner. There are plenty of companies that take off too quick and eventually suffer from it because orders are delayed due to being understaffed and then the bad reviews start to flow. We all know how much a bad review can hurt a business, right?
In this discussion I'll be going over 5 things to think of when you're pushing your business towards success, and they are:
Build a brand around your products
I'm sure you've heard this many times before, and if you haven't, you MUST build up your own brand name if you want to become the main business within your industry. Sure, you can make a lot of money without building a brand around your products, but you could be making a lot more if you did
Building a brand isn't the easiest thing to do, it takes a lot of man hours and the brains to back it up. You'll need to publish quality content to your own blog as well as on 3red party websites and blogs, you'll also need to be on social media a lot in order to get something going viral. You'll need to establish your brand among all the competition, and then stand out from them. How you do this exactly is to utilize your following and offer them something that your competitors aren't. I can't tell you what your competitors aren't offering, since every niche is different, but usually it stands out pretty quick if you've been in the industry for a while and can figure out the problems
As a business owner, you'll need to give
What you'll need to ask yourself is "How am I giving back to my community?" and when you get the answer to that question, amp it up even more so you stand out even more lol If you're genuinely a good person and giving back to your community, you will see that people will gravitate towards you because of your positive energy. Not to sound like a Hippy, but if you do good you will receive good, and that's a good way to run a business that is able to help others
Don't look at this as you're giving away resources and wasting money. Think of it as a marketing tactic that is building brand ambassadors to help you spread the word about your company. The more people you please, the more likely they will send you some referrals!
A good example of this is when I reached out to 10 different businesses in my town that had blogs which were suffering with little to no content. I volunteered my services and wrote each of them 10 articles with a minimum of 2,000 words a piece. That means I wrote up around 200,000 words of content for free across these 10 businesses. After I wrote up the content, I emailed it over to them so they could upload it to their blogs. Some didn't know how to do this, so I logged into their websites and did it for them, which they were extremely grateful for. Why did I help them out with their content? Because I'm a content writer as well as an SEO company owner that gives away services to build up my own client list I did this initial work for these 10 potential clients, and didn't charge them a single penny, and after a month I had a few of them coming back to hire me for content writing They saw their new content bringing in traffic, as well as some additional sales, and they know it's coming in from the content I wrote for them. I'm not charging them $3,000s a month for content, because they can't really afford that yet, but I am making a few hundreds bucks off of them each month because of the free content I wrote for them in the beginning
I showed these people my brand, gave them something for free, and they came back to hire me for more work. They also referred plenty of businesses to me and now I have more than the 3 clients just from writing free content for 10 people
Every customer needs to be treated like your only customer
When a company starts to see their customers as sales, they will lose touch with their audience. You need to treat every customer like they are your only customer, and you can't lose them or you go broke lol. If you can do this, you can boost your clients customer support experience and that goes a very long way.
I like to tell people to treat each client like they're your mother, unless you don't like your mother, then just treat them like someone you don't want to disappoint lol Doing this will spread like wildfire and people will be more likely to share their experience with the masses on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Good customer service goes a long way with people, so much that they will actually spend more on a website that has top notch support. They will do product research and figure out where they can get the lowest price, and most of the time people will choose a product that is a little more expensive if it's paired with amazing customer service. I know that I do this all the time and I know a lot of others do as well. No one wants a headache when they purchase something online, so they tend to gravitate towards a business that treats them well.
Be transparent, especially when on social media platforms
A company that has real people running it will always profit more than a company run behind a logo or business name. If someone can see you, hear you, know your name, and contact you directly if they need to, they will be more willing to purchase from you. There are actually companies that credit their success to bringing their visitors into the inner workings of the business through video streaming or just blog posts with great images. I'm not telling you to invite everyone to your location, I'm saying you should video tape yourself at the workplace and introduce your viewers to the people that actually work behind the scenes
Transparency goes a long way in terms of online success because people want to see who they're buying from. A company that is ran behind a logo will still make sales, but I can guarantee that they aren't going to do as well as a company that is showing the inner workings of the company itself
Always post amazing content
Of course, you'll need to be publishing great content in order to keep your visitors coming back as well as get Google to love you even more than they do already Great content doesn't only convince your visitors to buy from you, it gets shared and liked on social media platforms, which pulls in even more traffic.
The search engines love high quality content and they will usually rank it higher than something that was just thrown together. This is why a lot of companies are investing in blogging teams to publish plenty of content to their websites on a daily basis. The more quality content you publish on your website or blog, the more chances you have at getting thousands of visitors each month who will already be searching for what you have on your pages.
In conclusion
Some of the things I talked about above may be pretty obvious to experienced marketers, but hopefully there is someone that will get that "Aha!" moment when they read through everything I just typed up These aren't brainbusting techniques to get your 1,000s of new unique visitors overnight, but if you do them long enough, you can definitely achieve that amount of traffic Treat your customers like family, publish great content, build great relationships, and give away something in order to build your brand as most importantly your trust within the community
