When it comes to cost effective marketing, writing high quality content is one of the best ways you can do this on a budget.  Writing up quality content doesn't cost you any money, unless you want to outsource it to a credible writer, so it's one of the easiest things to get started and build your brand over time.  The only cost that is associated with content marketing is your time, since it takes a little while to write up a decent article that people will want to like and share for the masses.

You aren't researching what you should be
A lot of people think they can just write up whatever content they want to and they will be successful in the content marketing side of the business.  This is very wrong because you probably don't know what your target market is and you likely didn't do any research on them.  This is a pretty common mistake since a lot of people writing up content tend to skip it, but you MUST focus on your audience in order to have the best content for them.  It might cost a decent time investment to figure out exactly who your target market is, but it's definitely worth it since you won't waste your time writing content that won't convert if you target the wrong people.


You aren't exploring all of your options

I think the best way to use your content marketing budget is to market certain articles, pieces or writings. Some topics garner far more interest than others.

Making comprehensive research about a topic is an important aspect when one is planning on writing series of contents. The thing with that is when people read articles done with in-depth research done, they always see the difference.

I used to handle a team for an emergency project of more than 10 people at times. The team members are selected by the heads of 3 departments that are involved in the project. My experience is varied but I find it really daunting when most of the team members are lacking in experience. I understand that they were assigned to me to learn but having more than half of team members with no experience greatly affects the success rate of the project. In marketing, experience is also the best guarantee for success.

I don't understand how people don't have a firm understanding of this. All of the content that you put out - whether it's in written, video, or audio form - has to be precisely tailored to meet the needs of a targeted demographic. You can't be all over the place and expect to get any sort of half-decent results. Too many times I've seen content creators deviate from what their audience was used to, and too many times their careers nearly tanked.

People should learn more about appropriately marketing their content to their target market, and the point about monitoring your ROI is also really good, as from here you would know the strategy that is working and the products which are selling better and you can adjust your marketing strategy based on that.
