I am not sure which web hosting company you are currently using but majority sells the SSL and even help you through installation. I know that NameCheap does and they even have a click type of install that you can do through the Cpanel.
So, before you try and do it all yourself contact the web host and see if they sell it and set it up/guide you through. I actually went through setting up the SSL certificate recently and it honestly isn't hard at all.
