I have known about affiliate marketing for years already but I haven't been successful. I have joined a lot of affiliate programs that give out commissions for sales (Amazon) or signups (paid to click sites) but never had any significant earnings from them. My problem is, I don't know how to properly promote my links in order to entice people to click on them. I don't know how to entice people to buy. I don't know how to entice people to sign up under my affiliate links. I do know how to get traffic via social media like Facebook or Reddit. But I'm not getting the conversions that I need.
I've heard a lot of success stories around the web about people engaging in affiliate marketing and getting loads and loads of cash. I'd like to become successful in this field as well.
Do you have any tips on how to be successful in affiliate marketing? How do I get people to click? How do I get people to sign up and become my downlines?

One way that I know works, but I don't do it, is to build up a community and insert affiliate links into it over time. Of course this takes a while, but it could be worth it if done right. You need to focus on something you're passionate about besides affiliate marketing and then find an affiliate product in that niche. After that you should start up a blog and maybe a forum in which to entice people to come in and treat it like their own. The more inviting your community is, the more likely someone will sign up and come back time and time again.
After a few months or a year of building your community you will notice that people will pretty much buy whatever you post about lol. I have a friend who has a large dog breed forum and he will rotate out links to amazon products every month and label them as the "deal of the month" so people think they're saving money on the purchase. He will get an initial boost in sales right after the post and then he will see a drop, but it will never die out. If he didn't rotate his ads he would not make as much income.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, I just don't get into affiliate marketing much :'( I've avoided affiliate marketing for the longest time because of the reasons you touched on in your post. I would never be able to find the right places to post, and if I thought I did, I would get banned from that website or blog. If I did find a place I could post, it was likely that 1,000 other people did too and I was flooded out by all the affiliate links :( One way that I know works, but I don't do it, is to build up a community and insert affiliate links into it over time.
