Don't be Idle, start working on something.It could be a paid or a voluntary work.
I like to work on random ideas when I have downtime. I don't like to get too complacent because I feel that it will just spiral downward and I won't want to work anymore, and then I'd be broke lol. I don't really volunteer too much, unless my girlfriend brings me to an animal shelter on one of her days off and we clean up after a room full of kittens. But really, is that volunteering or is that just having fun with adorable little balls of fur????

Read a book you have been postponing to read
I have a list of books, digital and hard cover, that I've been meaning to crack in to. I want to start reading them, but I'm usually too busy to get one of them going. And I won't start one if I only have a few hours a week to read it, because I will feel like I lost track and I have to start over.

Visit the neighborhood to find out things about the place
Me and the family go on random walks throughout the week. I would say that we do it on average about twice a week and we try to take a different path each time so that we can see new things all over town

Make friends and relate well with them
Well I'm older and now I'm fairly picky about who I consider a friend. Over the years I've made plenty of friends and I just hang out with them if I get bored or feel like I'm stuck in a rut

visit the pubs, cinemas, and theater in the environment
I do this at least twice a month with my family. We try to have a dinner and movie night just so we can all be together and also see what's in theaters at the time. It's a good bonding moment and I also get to watch a sweet movie

I think it's really good advice to start working on something, whether or not you get paid for it. I've found that being idle and not having anything to work on is a real killer when it comes to my mood and motivation. You absolutely need a reason to get up in the morning and work on something, or else life just starts to feel pointless. It doesn't even have to be anything big. Sometimes even the smallest of projects can blossom into something greater.

I agree with you. If you find yourself in a boring environment, then it's your responsibility to do something so that you won't feel bored. Look for activities that you can do to make you feel productive. Lessen the time you spend on social networking sites and do real interaction with other people.

That's good advice. We tend to keep ourselves locked on screens. We spend more time online than offline. It says a lot about our daily habits. So moving away from the mundane and finding joy in human interaction is important to have a healthy social life.

I also agree with you. Do something that will make your life exciting. Look for activities that is productive also.

Living a happy life is living a life with God. God is joy. His kingdom is that of joy and happiness. He wants us to be happy and joyful.

These are great ideas but since I've been living my entire life in the same place, it can be a little tricky to find new activities after 25 years in the same spot. I guess I just need to find a new hobbie and learn a new thing so I can make new friends that teach me other activities I haven't even consider in the past. Thanks for the tips.

I like your ideas, but in a rural area it is hard to sometimes to find new things to do. I think it is just one of the options that you might have to look hard for if you can find something new to do.

It's certainly something to think about in our society right now. Stuff like this is inevitable. That's why those who can survive in such conditions develop resilience as one of their strongest features.

Stay positive and pray wholeheartedly. Nothing is impossible with faith in Him.

I can relate. Our living quarters are certainly limiting. So even if you lived in a big place, you can still feel bored. You have to go out there and explore the world. Life is filled with surprises.

I agree. Magazines are one way to keep us away from boring situation. I can tell that magazines are not recognize by many nowadays because of internet. There are online magazines there so people dont want to spend money from buying the hard copy so they intend to read it online and its free.

Yes taking break in between the big tasks also helps out. I know many who do the work specifically which does not require physical movement. And they keep eye on lot of things. And they manage more things around. So on that basis you can see that boring life is reduced a lot. And also helps with renenergized on doing things for longer.

This could be their thing. They're more easily occupied because of stuff they have to do. Some say it's a blessing to be busy. It's because others consider idleness to be a form of personal torture. It's kind of sad and funny when you think about it.

At some points in life, it’s not possible — or at least not easy — to feel happy. However, even then, it’s sometimes possible to feel happier. Some times when am bored i do something fun, and doing something fun can temporarily distract yourself from the stress, and re-charge your battery, with an enjoyable activity. Watching a funny movie is a
reliable way to give yourself a pleasant break, and listening to your
favorite music is one of the quickest ways to change your mood

Yes, if you have just been diagnosed with an incurable disease or possibly worse, a loved one has been, it is pretty hard to feel happy under those circumstances, but you can make your life as happy as it can be.

Movies are great for keeping boredom at bay. I like how classics can improve our mood. Part of its power is the cinematic score. Music just has the power to draw our attention. And so it's like we're transported to a different universe. This reminds me of watching epic movies.

I lived in New York City most of my life, and as anyone knows, it is the exact definition of a concrete jungle. It can honestly get quite dull, being surrounded by nothing but grey buildings. Some may find it exciting, but as someone who loves nature and lush, green environments, it felt like a prison to me. And that is exactly why I moved. That being said, what helped me the most to cope during my time there was meditation and mindfulness. We humans are prone to constantly seeking objective entertainment and beauty, and when it's not entirely apparent to us, we believe it's not there. Mindfulness teaches you to find beauty and entertainment by noticing the smaller things in life. You learn to look in wonder upon things you may have not noticed at all before.

I honestly don't think that we live in the dull or boring environment because things are always what you make them to be. If you have this idea in your head, "Everything is so boring, what do I do?" and so on, of course, it will reflect on how you perceive things.

If you think the other way around, "I love life. I have so many fun things I can possibly do" you will see an interesting change. Trust me and give it a try

I agree entirely.

So much of what is "boring" and what is "exciting" is relevant to one's perspective and outlook on life. You could have the exact same person, in the exact same situation, and one may have the time of their life while the other is bored to death.

Usually people who are easily bored seem to have a limited perspective on life. They only find excitement or enjoyment in a few material things or possession, and lack the ability to expand their outlook.

With an open mind and positive outlook on life, you soon begin to forget the concept of boredom.

I love the way you said. It's so true. Everything we feel and see is filtered through our subjective experiences. So if we focus on positive emotions, we'll have a better life experience. It's simple but never easy. Just like with anything in life.

Making local friends is a great suggestion. You may be living in a boring environment but if you have friends around you then it may be bearable and a lot better for you. Friends can make you happy and can help you enjoy your environment a lot more. It can also help you to forget the boring environment that is around you.

Friends make life more meaningful. I've learned that true happiness is attained through genuine human interaction. Our lives are connected and so we find joy in being good friends with others. This goes a long way towards making us feel fulfilled in life.

You're welcome. It's not always so easy to be thankful when struggles abound. But once you see past the obvious, you'll feel better. We tend to overlook what's important and focus on the negative side of things.

It's normal. So let's recognize the beauty of what's in front of us. After all, being alive is a blessing in of itself.

Great tips specially for persons that seems to be lost on their environment. There are times that you feel bored and lazy just because your environment affects you. Your tips are great ways to get out of that situation. One thing that i want to add, is thinking positive. There are times that we feel down because of what we see on our surroundings, thinking positive will open our eyes to different perspectives on the environment we live in.

It's a common occurrence. Especially, in the digital age. More and more games are being built to make us feel less bored. But they're only band-aid solutions. The only way to get rid of it is to actively choose to do something. Because finding meaning is the key to living a better life.

I am totally agree with you. It is up to us how we are able to fight that boredom.
Do something and start making your body and mind busy. So many things to do.
Find it and I know you will never be bored again.

It's the challenge when it comes to living. Problems keep us busy because they show us a goal we can work towards to.

But people without actual problems unconsciously seek them out just to fill the void in their existence. It sounds bleak but it's what's happening around us. So in order to find meaning, you must understand who you truly are. Because doing so will point towards the right direction in life.

I couldn't agree more to this. Having a boring environment doesn't necessarily means you'll have a boring day too. It is how we perceive and approach each day with a mindset, it all starts in how we think. Whatever energy you receive is just exactly what you gave. Dare to turn things around and live your life to its fullest extent.
