Do you write newsletters?

I rarely get newsletters from forums anymore especially compared to a few years ago and I was just wondering, does anyone write newsletters anymore for personal blogs, forums or websites? I know that the big websites usually have some sort of weekly email that has content they think you might be interested in but the amount of newsletters from smaller sites seems to have drastically reduced over the past year. I used to get weekly emails from a couple of forums about competitions they were having or about some interesting posts but those have all disappeared now. Is it worth writing newsletters anymore?

I have worked on the design aspect of the newsletter. I have heard that those who are freelancers and writing the newsletters they can make some good money. So that being said, newsletters are definitely something worth going for. But depending on how the conversion happens. I am guessing one needs better copywriter for this type of work.

I have been receiving newsletters from time to time particularly to those sites that I have subscribed to. The newsletters have different designs and it looks like the design would depend on the niche of the newsletter. I didn’t know that freelancers can offer their service to write newsletters and as you said that they are paid well then I probably would want to look in that horizon.

Email marketing companies have the design feature. That allows users to design before sending the mails. And it seems like feature available in almost every tech out there. The thing is that more attractive design, easier for the people to get into the new subscribers. That's what I have learned so far.

I have no idea if its still worth or not. I got some email's promo etc, but will less to pay attention on it. I subscribed to a newsletter too but on the topic that i really want it. But if i found that I received constant newsletter with the topic that I didnt want it, i will unsub ASAP

I don't think it's much worth. People tend to associate these newsletters with spam, so it's not time worth.

Email marketing has a lot of value. You just need to reach the position of brands. And then surely things can change. I know this because I have seen some of the people earning good money from mails. You need to be proactive about the newsletters promotion though. Some like mailchimp are not much worth it to go through.

Well, Nowadays Mass emailing to costly and risky. that could be the reason. Emailing harm the reputation of the website IP in eye of Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo. Most of people stopped sending newsletters. Some company setup their SMTP to do so and it is bit costly and not worth.

I use just a basic news letter for my main social exchange and traffic website. It's a bit dull tho but I would love to create one for my spiritual clairvoyant WordPress site.

I agree with the person that said newsletters are often associated with spam. I actually think that my Gmail account sees many of the Newsletter as unwanted email and automatically puts it in the spam folder. One time, I opened it up and saw like 10+ different newsletters, haha. So, I am a bit skeptical about how important or worth it is. If I was an owner of a website or a forum, I personally wouldn't bother putting my time into it. There are better things to invest your efforts into.

And I have to disagree a bit. I still see a fair amount of newsletters... perhaps you just aren't signed up to them ;) there's usually an option to disable receiving them.

I agree with you. I received a lot of newsletters from those PTC , survey, sites daily that had pumped in 999 emails into the inbox. It is very annoying that these newsletters are not relevant to any help for me. However, I do read newsletters from recipe sites which update me on the latest recipes.

A good newsletter is always worth its weight in gold. I often sign up or siscribe to free newsletters. I don't know who you “don't see” publishing newsletters. But I get a few in eMail Inbox regularly.

As for me writing my own newsletter? Why bother? They have tools like Paper.li that automate the process.

I have seen the paperli from mailchimp. They seem to be good for casual newsletters. Because they don't allow the affiliate links. And also they are kind of limited with the features. I hope to see other newsletter options these days which are free and hopefully like paperli.

I have tried other news publishing tools but they were not as good. I am only using the Free Plan with Paper.li. Supposedly their Paid Plan is even better. The cool thing with Paper.li is that it works well is you use an RSS feed or your Twitter account. It displays the activity just like in a newspaper and it also categorizes the links under a specific topic like Science or Leisure or Business or Food. It's automatic. You don't have to do that. When I first started they used to keep all of my back copies or editions. Now they only keep about 30 days worth. If you want back copies saved you have to use the Paid Plan. The link below provides alternative. The only on that list I tried was List.ly. It was OK. But I wouldn't call it an alternative to Paper.li. My opinion.

Have you tried tinyletter? It can be a good system for those who want to make the newsletter for say their town or the village or the small group. And that website can be setup and newsletters can be sent for free. And also they have system of the subscription too so that others can pay for mails. So I like that alternative.

No, I have not tried TinyLetter. I noticed that it is a MailChimp product. I have never used any MailChimp products, although this company does have a good reputation. So it's probably a good system to use.

Yes tinyletter seems to be good for small things like club, groups, author fans and other fan based subscription mails. And it can also pay some people under subscription. It looks like a good system to me but depends on how you experiment with it.

I have a small mailing list, just about 200 subscribers. There was a time when I used to write newsletters and regularly send it to the
subscribers. However, the conversion rate was very poor. few people opened the newsletter and even less clicked the links. Therefore, I stopped writing newsletters and sending to my subscribers. However, I am thinking to resume the service one of these days.

Now a days to write for regular newspaper is some how worthless. Because peoples of this world does not read news paper. Every body is connected with online and getting the latest update by online instantly. SO there is no necessary to write for newspaper. You can write for online newspaper.

While no, I do not write newsletters for any sites of forums, I do have to agree that I've seen a drastic decline in the amount of newsletters I've been receiving. Like you said, it used to be that I would receive newsletters from multiple sources and they would practically fill up my email. They came from everywhere, be it forums or blogs. However recently I've only been getting them from major websites and maybe one or two forums out of several dozen. I guess that they've run out of writers or perhaps just found them to be unnecessary.

I think a sending out a newsletter is risky. You really run the risk of people not reading the newsletter. I don't tend to read things like that if they come to me. The most I will do is scan a paragraph or two. Overall, I think they are not worth the time spent in creating them.

It definitely is, especially if you have products that you want to sell. Reminding people about your website and pitching your products is definitely a way of increasing your sales and website trafiic.

I am not a fan of newsletters, therefore I would not spare the effort to produce one especially that some people would want to associate it with spam.

Shore and enough information to your subscribers then it will be good.
No one will want to open and read a long content in an email.
Just keep in mind this and you will succeed in writing a good newsletters.

I regularly receive newsletters from several forums and websites. In terms of being interesting, the religious newsletter is the most interesting for me. With forums, I just let it go to the spam folder and I rarely open and read except when there are promos that I think would be beneficial to me. That last statement is already a clue for the newsletter to be effective – if it has something beneficial to offer to the reader then it will probably be read otherwise it will just remain unread.
