How do you deal with spammer and spam mails?

Sending of spam messages on websites and to email address has become the order of the day. It gets really annoying for me when I open my mails to see a lot of irrelevant messages from websites and people I didn't subscribe to. As a website moderator, it becomes a painful chore to scrutinize each message and comment being displayed on my website. Some people tend to use inappropriate words and drop irrelevant links that do not relate to what is being discussed most times and this could lead to their removal from the website.

Also, most times I get tired of filtering the number of irrelevant messages I receive in my email frequently. What I usually do is to select all and move them to Trash. I've found this to be time saving but notwithstanding it has not proven reliable all the time because I sometimes end up not seeing and deleting important messages that might have found their way to my spam-box in between.

So, how do you handle issues like this?

I might be terribly wrong here but at least in WordPress, there is a spam blocker option no? I dealt with lots of spam bots subscribing to my website that way.

I do not open spam mails. I delete those directly after selection all mails. But I check all spam mails head line which show on the box store. If I do not know the sender than I select for delete and after select 100 mails I delete all of those by one click. If I know any sender than I open the mail and I mark that "this is not spam".

I have a folder in my email where I collect spam and scam mails. Not really much of the spam because emails selling products need not be collected but more of the scam emails that say something about money left behind by someone who died. But there's a spam email that is cute with its gimmick. The subject is about the termination of my email account so I have to click on the link to avoid being cut off. And that link goes to their website which is not related to the subject. Sometimes it is annoying but collecting such emails has been entertaining for me.

Now that's an interesting way to go about it. I'm sure you find it helpful to keep track of email scams. Maybe that's how you can quickly identify those that try to trick you into giving your information.

I usually just let the mail go into spam. I usually don't deal with them personally. Instead I let those youtubers who scam bait work on this. I have found out that some of such spam mail can be something they can deal with time in their hands. I personally don't have time for myself to work on that. I guess each to their own and sometimes ignoring the mails is the best approach in that case. You should not waste time into this if you are serious about the money.

That's one way of doing it. I actually like deleting all of my spam mails in one go. I just do a quick scan for the subjects and then erase everything. It's pretty obvious when emails are just spam.

Gmail has new tabs feature that filters social media, newsletters, important mails, personals etc. And that can be one way to sort out. I just delete the social media notifications. I don't even bother reading them. As its' either spam or just another reminder of some sort. Its often not worth going through all the mails.

Me too. I don't go through all of them. I just skim the subjects to see which ones are important. I even find it fun to delete emails without reading. I'm used to getting junk mail by now. Thanks for the tip.

Yes and the due process I have managed to skip a lot of emails. And unsubscribed in many lists. but they keep on coming. And not a lot can be done in that case. I am tired of many marketing funnels that keeps adding me into their funnel. And it gets spammy all over.

I think all of us have this. It's become a problem to the point of causing anxiety. Who doesn't feel stressed when they see hundreds of junk mail cluttering their folder?

Yes and the worst case victims are those who are in old age. You can see that those people get affected the most. Because they can't differentiate between the real and imaginary. So they always fall for spam. It's necessary to watch how those things happen around.

I agree that it can get pretty annoying. I often get spam mail as well... usually every single day. I honestly have no clue where half of the websites even get my email from but hey, you can't do much. The only thing that I do is to always put their email address on my block and spam list. That way, any future emails that they send me will automatically be marked as spam and I won't see them.

Sadly, that's all you can do. Just move the emails into the spam folders and keep them there. Don't even bother opening them up because they can often contain different malware.

You should simply mark them as spam and stop worrying about it. You don't have to deal with those yourself, even if once in a while you should check because something useful can be marked as spam mail. But most of the times it's only scammers who write things like you didn't pay this item, someone sent you money and things like these. You shouldn't waste time on this. Don't open them.

That's a simple way of preventing them. I find it a bit too time consuming. Especially, if you get lots of frequent spam mail from different senders. Others who only get them every once in a while might find this method useful.

This is very easy to answer, all I'm doing is to block that user from sending me spam emails. Usually, just like you I'm sorting my emails and send them to trash or if I need them longer in my archive.
I know it is a busy job but we must do it!

I'm not sure. But they don't always keep coming up. Maybe a change of domain or something like that. Others just make a different website in case it's gotten to a point of ridiculous bots.

That's a nice idea. Blocking unnecessary emails can prevent further attacks. Though, changing your email is a more convenient way of avoiding possible spam from the same senders.

I usually check my spam box and deny any further messages from the respective email. When i get something suspicious in my main box, i don't even open the email, i just grab that, select it as spam and delete.

That's a safe way of doing it. Better be safe than sorry. We can't be too sure about emails nowadays. Too many are risky.

I spend a couple of minutes blocking senders, that seems to help.

My main concern with spam emails are inexperienced staff actually opening them. The spammers use some clever techniques, for example " Hi, how are you", from common names which could match friends/family members.

That's difficult to avoid. But more people are becoming aware of scam mails. I'm sure we'll find more effective methods of clearing and preventing spam.

I simply mark them as spam and they will go directly to my spam folder. After that, I will block them and they simply won't show anymore. If I want to take it to teh next level, I'd go to the website and unsubscribe.

Gmail automatically puts all spam mail in a separate folder. I never open mail with which I am not familiar. I periodically delete all such mail,. As far as handling a spammer the best way is to ignore them. After a while they will stop sending spam.

Thanks for your query. Yes it is really annoying things when you will see so many spam message to your related email. Specially when it become to business email. Sometimes by mistaken you may remove importance email as well as thinks as spam. I had used yahoo mail and I had got so many spam mail there. And over some years I used gmail and here I do not get any promotion mail either subscribe. And if you used gmail simply you can select spam box, who frequently send you email. Further all of email will go to there.
On the other hand, if you want to stop spam from your website or blog. I think firstly you should use anti spam plugin, if you use WordPress. And close comment area for all either registration. Use recapthca by google. And this way I think you can handle spammer for your website or blog.

I hate spam mail, what I usually do is to mark any email I suspect to be spam as SPAM, that way it will go to the spam or junk folders. Unless I know the sender, if not it will surely go spam folder and I mass delete them occasionally.

What I did is set up two emails, one for the blog and another one being my personal email. The blog email is what I use on my blog and it is not open to everyone. One must subscribe before he can see it. Another step is setting spam filter with keywords of my choosing.

All the spam mails that I receive normally go in the spam folder. Occasionally I do check this folder as sometimes there might be some genuine email in there. Sometimes I find that by just unsubscribing to a site I stop receiving some of those annoying messages. Those spam emails are automatically deleted after 30 days.

One thing I love about Gmail is it will filter all the spam emails for me. Most of the time, I could find 999 spam emails at Yahoo mails but not Gmail. Just set the option for the spam emails to go into the Spam or Trash. I usually, tick the boxes in bulk, delete them and put them "Delete forever"

You can delete the spam messages.The spam messages will be usually found in the spam folder.You can set your email software to automatically filter unwanted spam messages.

Like many others here, I mark them as spam and they are sent to a separate folder, then, a few times a week, I go there and erase and delete them permanently. I think that this type of stuff just comes with the territory, and spammers are just as ingenious as all of us are in running their own "business".

My main e-mail account has been made in 2013 and ever since then I do not make efforts in filtering spam mails. I had the idea that it automatically filters mails coming in to my inbox. I have not turned on notifications for my phone back then so I let it sit for months. When I came back to it, I was so surprised that despite being able to filter spam mails, there are still mails that should have been spam. I think it is not enough to rely automatically on the spam filtering system all the time.

The really surprising thing is that I actually don't receive spam emails, and I never really did. To be honest I'm not entirely sure why. You have people who often complain about receiving emails from Nigerian princes, offers to buy cheap male enhancement pills, and all of those other emails stereotypically seen as spam, but I haven't gotten a single one since I've made my latest Outlook account. Sure I've gotten plenty of them in the past, especially while the internet was fairly new, but these days the only time anything goes to my junk mail is when my service accidentally marks it as spam.

Alot of spam emails are phising scams in disguise so these are the problems with some of these emails. I just find them to be annoying though even if they are not asking for money I sometimes feel like I am a junk email magnet because I seem to be on the receiving end of a lot of them.

I have a folder on my email address that is basically for scam and spam emails .i dont just open them I outrightly delete them.

To keep scam emails away from your mailbox the best bet is to stop dropping your email addresses on public forums and blogs.I think majorly that is where the harvest one's email address.

A spam mail is an unwanted mail that finds its way into your inbox.

Imagine being sent a mail about you winning a million dollar lottery ticket and the content of the mail asks that you follow a link to go claim some amount of money associated with the lottery when you know quite alright that you didn't apply for any lottery at any point in time.

Such a mail can be described as spam. It ended up in the wrong inbox.

The best way to stop spammer and spam mails is use captcha or email filter on your web hosting.
I used both and it worked effectively and I didn't care more about spammers or spam mails any more.

We also use filters in our email inbox that only legitimate emails will go there. But new spam emails will also go to the inbox that it is either we filter the new spam or we have to block the origin so that it will not be received anymore. But sometimes it is an amusing spam email like the click bait that I have the habit of saving into another folder for future reference when I need such spam to speak about.

What I do is delete my spam mails. I check for obvious signs of importance. If it's not, then I immediately remove them. It's too time consuming to go over them one by one. That's why it's much easier to erase messages that are obviously irrelevant.
