Do promotion forums really work anymore?

I remember a couple of years ago, promotion forums were extremely popular. Everyone wanted to start up their own promotion forum because they seemed to do so well and they wanted to be part of a growing market. But have their popularity decreased massively recently? And do they even work anymore? I think the main problem with promotion forums is that they do not allow webmasters to effectively advertise their site. Think about it, promotion forums tend to only be full of webmasters. There are very little normal users on these sites so advertising our sites on there will only get a few interested webmasters. And while the services that they offer are great, they are of very little user to medium-large forums. Do promotion forums really work anymore?

It works in some cases if you do on forums as follows

- High traffic forums
- Relevant to your niche

I did forum promotions on some forums but very less traffic come my sites, just some clicks from forum signatures and It is not worth doing that. I would recommend using paid methods to get fast traffic instead of forum promotions.

It looks like the paid method of advertising is getting popular maybe because of the cheap package of Facebook Ads that you start at $10 per day. That is affordable even for small site owners provided you have a budget for at least 1 week that I guess would be enough to test the effectiveness of the advertising platform. There is also Google Ads but I don’t know how much the budget you would need.

Promotion forume can help with adding your forum to their dictionary but don't expect traffic, request posts/members on your forum, and getting support from other webmasters. It has some help more than amazing benefits.

Yeah, they do work but you also got to put a little bit into the forums. Don't just join a forum to promote yourself you need to get involved in community and conversations as well. When people join welcome them and try not to keep talking about your blogs as such . Also if a forum as a signature strip make use of it by displaying your link in the strip.

It works but it depends on the content of your forum or what you are trying to publish. As what moneybags82 said, you will have to put something in order for it to work. Be sure to also have the necessary features on your forum. About the content, try to identify which you think is the best and more popular. You might as well rely on social media while you are starting out.

It will work. No matter what form it is, its still advertisement. Now, how effective it will be is a different story. The best way to advertise a product is in a crowded place. Same goes with promotion forum. You need to find a forum that is with a good population. They might not be your direct buyer, but they can serve as your free referral agent.

They do work. Even if it's a small increase of traffic or clicks, it's still an increase and that's what it's all about. It's about promoting yourself, your forum. Of course, the numbers from the paid promotion methods will be much higher but that's because it costs you. Promotion forums don't cost anything except a bit of your time which is really the minimum.

Just make sure that you show some interest in other threads/forums as well. Don't just join the Promotion Forum, make that one thread ''Hey guys, all join my forum'' then never show yourself again. You want to build some contacts, relationship and so on, and that's when the real traffic increase will begin. And make sure to find your target audience within the forum.

I have been on a couple of promotion forums, based on my experience I can say that these forums do not work at all. The main problem is there are only sellers and no buyer. On promotion forum, everyone has a website and he/she wants people to check it out. You will not find a single member who is there just because he wants to check out websites.
The only thing that works on promotion forums is "I check your and you check mine" that is the webmasters help each other.

Basically "I scratch your back and your scratch mine." It's unfortunate, but that's just the way it is. You'll be hard pressed to find people genuinely interested because there are so many forums out there. Separating a unique one from among the rest is hard. It really is. All you can do is put your best foot forward in hosting it and let people know you care. That's my take.

I have mixed opinions about it. A lof of them that I go to is kind of empty and quite boring. I feel like people don't really interact there. I have chatted with a few people, but nothing much seems to come of it. I think the forums that offer a variety of topics or one really popular topic will do the best. That is what I have observed in my experience.

I beg to differ with the above posters. I think promotion forums are great for at least one reason: They get you a lot of exchanged posts, lol! However, though, you gotta make sure that you demand longer posts - if that's you want - because a lot of the posts exchanges are rather informal. In that case, you might only get a sentence or one or two lines.

I think some of the promotion forums were not done right, which is why they don't really attract traffic. I think a good promotion forum needs to meet an element of marketing and details of whatever things you are promoting. Also, the forum's goal is not to attract short term users but to attract long term posters so the quick and catchy way of attracting posters are good but there are other things that need to be used to keep posters interested. A lot of forums that are dying don't have that, in my opinion, it just looks boring and hard for posters to contribute.

It still works for me but one shouldn't expect much traffic from promotion forums. i noticed that the users of these sites are mostly wedmasters that are mostly there to advertisers and off the go without checking out others web pages but no matter how small is better than nothing

Personally I think promotional Forums still work, All you need is to know tips to make it work for you, Some people and most of beginners engage in forums for purposes to build their names and recrute people which is why some forums don't allow people to share in links for fear that people will be advirtising on their platforms and may be share viruses, Just make sure you use forums which accept links sharing and relevant to your niche.

I have read several discussions with opinions that forums are dying in favor of social media. Come to think of it, social media is just like a forum although it has no theme unlike a forum which has a niche. And although there is a Facebook Group that can be likened to a forum, it looks like social media is trying to take over. But I’d still say that forums are here to stay because it has a different culture than that of social media.
