Foreign Keywords and US Social Signals - Good idea?

Hello guys, I want to rank a site in Mexico, and I know that sending social signals to a newly indexed page is always good. My question is, does it matter where the social signals come from? If I send social signals from the US to my Mexican site will it affect my rankings?

I think google trends and google analytics can show you a lot of data in case if you want some social signals. You may find that some of the social signals are on the basis of the search queries. And some of the data is on the basis of the captured data from the users. So it all accumulates and adds up in that case. You'd need a lot of foreign keywords that you may make sense through the analytics. That's what I have learned.

I'm in the USA and I assume my posts go everywhere around the world. But that was because I was ignorant. Once I familiarized myself with my Google webmaster tools, I realized that I could narrow down my audience by country. But by that time I didn't want to. I prefer a global outreach. But it's good to know that I can pick a specific location I want for circulating my websites and blogs.

You can see that each countries buying patters are different. So that may not be possible to see through the webmaster console. You can see those patterns in the Google Analytics. And you can then change the content accordingly. It may work out that way I am guessing. In your case if your blog readers are local then US social signals are worth paying attention to.

I had to google what a social signal is before replying. I would've thought that if you have signals from all over the place that would look good since the more international, particularly US based, you are, the more prestige you hold. This might just be my assumption, but of course, you should try to target the Mexican market so they mostly will feel closer to you and you will be more accessible as a result.

@RedVelvetJuliet I agree that the more international your site the more prestige you have. However in this case the person asking may want to specifically target an audience in mexico. Google tends to target local pages first before international ones. If you input a search term, your local pages will come up first in the results. I think also to target mexico choose keywords that are relevant to it. E.g saloons , restaurants in mexico e.t.c. I'm not an authority on this but this is what I would do.

There is one site that I go to but I will not name it. When the content that I clicked is displayed, the list of keywords on top can give me an idea of which is effective for that particular content because I got there by using a search and it appeared that the particular content was given to me via the keyword. Most of the time it is not the first keyword that was searched but mostly in the middle of the list.
