Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

We've all heard of drop shipping, but can you drop ship with Amazon and turn a profit every month? Well now you can! I've been playing around with Merch by Amazon where you upload your designs onto t-shirts and then list them on Amazons marketplace. When I make a sale I will get a royalty commission which can range from $3 and up. Obviously I wouldn't want to price a shirt at $75 because it wouldn't sell, so I try to price them all at $35.99 so I can make a couple bucks per sale.

The downside about Merch by Amazon is that you have an upload limit and that can make some people go crazy. Right now I can upload 5 designs per day but sometimes that drops to 1 or 2 depending on the amount of orders Amazon can take in. So if I had 1,000 designs it would take almost a year of uploading to get everything on their marketplace. And not only that, with Merch by Amazon there is a lifespan of 90 days until your design is removed from the marketplace. If your design does not sell within the 90 days it will be removed, but if it sells once it will stick and never be removed.

What if I told you there was a way to not have a limitation on your uploads per day, not worry about getting your items removed after 90 days and also make more money because you have more items to put your designs on?

Well there is a way, it's in beta right now, and you can use it to your advantage. If you are using shopify then you can use an app called tee launch. This is a drop shipping company that allows you to add your designs to as many of their products as you want.

Their top sellers right now are:

  • T-Shirts
  • Tank Tops
  • Phone Cases
  • Beach Towels
  • Coffee Mugs
  • Cutting Boards
  • Stickers
  • Long Sleeves
  • Hoodies
  • Dog Bowls
  • Flags
  • Blankets
  • Mouse Pads
  • Shower Curtains

You can literally put your designs on all of these items and then upload them and sell them to your viewers.

What you'll need for this:
  1. A shopify account
  2. Unique designs
  3. A Teelaunch account
  4. The Teelaunch app added to your shopify website
  5. An Amazon sellers account
  6. Product SKU's and UPC's (don't worry, this is easier than you think lol)

All of the above is free except for the Shopify account and the designs if you want to pay someone to make them for you. If you want someone to do your designs you can just pay a designer here on seocheckout.com to do the work.

After that you'll do is set up your Shopify account and download the Teelaunch app to your store. Then you'll set up a Teelaunch account on their website so that you can access everything. After this you will then start uploading designs (if you have some) to your website through the teelaunch app and once you get a few dozen or hundred designs live on your website you will now integrate with Amazon. This is where your Amazon sellers account comes into play, if you don't have one, this won't work. You now integrate your Amazon sellers account with your Shopify website so that you can upload all of your designs at once, or over time as you add them, and start selling. The information of your products that you added will get pulled directly from your website and added to your Amazon sellers account without you having to do much. Now I want to remind you that this is still in the beta stage so there could be some errors. I would suggest that you go through and check out all of your designs and descriptions just to make sure they pull correctly from your website and get added to Amazon Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

The tricky thing, if you haven't been doing this for a while, is figuring out a work around with the SKU's that Amazon will ask from you for each design variant. This isn't a problem at all, just go to https://www.random.org/strings/ and enter in that you want to generate XX amount of random strings. You'll need one for every variant so if you have 10 shirts and offering 10 different colors for each, you'll need 100 SKU's. Then enter that you want each SKU to be 10 characters long with Numeric digits and Uppercase letters. You'll need to select that each string should be unique (like raffle tickets) so that you aren't using the same one for multiple designs. Then just click "Get Strings" Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

For the UPC's I've found the best method to get them is to just go to eBay and spend a few bucks on 1,000 of them and use them as you need Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

Once you did all of this, you are now (hopefully) going to be getting orders. If you didn't optimize all of your listings and they just have basic titles and descriptions, you're going to say this doesn't work lol. Go optimize if you haven't already. After you do get a sale, you won't have to do anything in terms of creating the product or shipping it out, Teelaunch handles all of that for you! So if you think about this, it's like Merch by Amazon but on Steroids because you can add unlimited designs to dozens of items and not just T-shirts Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

In Conclusion:
If you're doing Merch by Amazon and not using this method that I talked about above, you're just leaving money on the table. It is in it's beta stage so you might have to manually fulfill an order once or twice, but that should all be tweaked eventually so that you don't have to do anything except upload designs Drop shipping with Amazon is better than Merch by Amazon

Prior to reading this, I had never heard about Merch program from Amazon. I am an Amazon Affiliate and I publish Amazon ads on my websites. I have also created Amazon store on my website where my visitors can buy Amazon products. I have recently launched an ecommerce site and I am thinking to do dropping shipping. I will have to check Merch.

I never really looked into the Merc by Amazon since I'm not highly interested in selling my own Merch but reading this sounds a bit complicated. I mean, even once you figure it all out and it gets easier to just make these products, you still have to consider the fact that you need a crowd to sell it to. It could be more work than it initially seems.

Also didn't they make it into an invite only now? How hard is it to get into it?

That sounds like a lot of work, but i will give it a try anyway. But question i have here, I tried to signup with amazon merch two months ago and i have been waiting for an invitation ever since and not received one, is there any specific criteria or eligibility to work on amazon merch.

I think Shopify has the better options for the drop shipping. And you can find the options given by the Ebay as another good for the drop-shipping and keeping things in warehouse. I have found merch good too. But at the end it all comes down to profit level. Some business methods can be profitable and some may require efforts from your side. So you have to find out which drop shipping methods works for you.

Some people say that the problem you face is all the Shopify pages you have that are ranked in Google and other search engines will change once you move. Moving will make you would lose your rankings. Your website would have to be re-indexed. Over night you would lose most of your traffic. Google would take 3 to 4 months to deal with the move. This is enough time to cause huge financial. What do you think?

I think if anyone is chasing the google ranking then they are not really making money. I think social media ads are lot better. Chasing SEO these days nobody is helping that way to their business. I guess for traffic which is real through social media is lot better. And those people are likely to buy if they choose to come on the site of shopify. I think that's worth going for these days.

Yes you are right about tha, social media is the best way to generate traffic. Social networking strategy is far easier than managing traffic. It will be interesting to know the overall percentage of traffic and sales for Shopify shops coming from social media, how conversion rate and total transaction values from social media compare to other traffic sources.

SEO seems to be the game where you try to put football into goalpost and it changes. Very few leads are being generated. These days FBAds is performing lot better than Adwords. So that way we can see that it's not worth spending money into it. Also amazon allows you to use PPC for merch and products. So it's easier that way.

I didn’t know that Amazon has a drop shipping program. I am enamored by drop shipping because it is one business that you wouldn’t need capital. All you would do is be industrious and creative in the marketing of the product and when you get a sale then you earn a commission. I have many friends in Facebook who are doing that and they have been at it for several years now. They say that drop shipping is a good way of earning decent money and there is not much stress.
