If you want to earn a free weekend in Vegas you will usually have to win a trip or get someone to pay for you. But one of the ways you can earn it, and also make some money, is to become an affiliate with one of the bigger chains out there and sending them traffic. You'll become an affiliate of the MGM grand network and it's a basic copy and paste code that can track everything you send them
If you want to check out their system right away and then come back, go here: http://www.mgmmirageaffiliates.com/
Now then, let's go over what you will need to do in order to get accepted into they almost 100% open to anyone system.
Your Website(s):
You will definitely need a website that is focused on vacations. It doesn't have to be specifically about Vegas, but it will help a lot when it comes to the search engine traffic you will have coming in from Google, Yahoo! and Bing
Design your website so it's coded well and responsive, you can purchase a theme that is similar to a news website and get a massive amount of content on there. You will need to optimize your pages and content in order to rank high on the SERPs because paying for some Vegas related keywords will make you go broke in a short amount of time lol.
If you don't have a website up and running prior to submitting your affiliate application there's no way you will get accepted. You will need to have everything set up and running in order to be seen as a potential affiliate. You cannot have a constructions page or "Website Coming Soon!" page because that will get your application deleted pretty quick.
Marketing:
You will need to have a decent marketing plan in place in order to get the traffic to your website. This will usually cost some money because you'll need to purchase banner placements and invest into PPC campaigns.
Banners - When trying to place banners for a monthly charge you will want to focus on websites that have a lot of general traffic. If it's possible, you can try to get your banners on a website related to travel, but that's going to be more difficult since they are likely an affiliate to some other travel destination and won't want you to promote your own affiliate links. If they do allow you to promote you links, it's probably because they don't make much from their own links and want a quick buck. This is where you should be hesitant about paying them anything because you could just be wasting your money. Sometimes it will work though because they are generally just posting about travel since it's a passion of theirs and they want to make some money from ad spots So be sure to contact everyone you can and see who responds!
PPC - With a Vegas and Travel related PPC campaign you can lose your shirt pretty quickly if you're not monitoring your campaign like a hawk. To start off I wouldn't put your CPC (cost per click) above $4.25 per click because that will likely be within your price range. If you can't afford $4.25 per click for a Vegas and Travel related PPC campaign then this might not be for you Sorry to break that to you, but it's true. Even if you can afford the 25 cent click, it might be from page 3 or higher since there are plenty of affiliates out there paying $5 to $45 a click to get traffic.
Profits:
You will be making 3% for each signup you get. This is a percentage of how much the people are spending on their stays as well as other things ordered while at the hotel. Now 3% doesn't sound like much, but I was just in Vegas and spent over $750 for a basic room with 1 bed from a Wednesday to a Sunday. I didn't even stay in the prime time which would increase the prices a lot since there is more demand. The higher the demand, the higher the prices usually are because they will sell the rooms regardless.
So let's say you're targeting all the "Suite" keywords for every hotel out there and you can get 10 sales a month. That doesn't sound like a lot, but a suite can run $4,000+ just for the weekend lol. If you're getting 3% of $4,000 then you're getting $90 per stay. If you're getting 10 a month then that's $900 for just sending traffic through an affiliate link What if you got 100 a month or even more?
How to get the free stay?
Well that would mean you're already getting the hotels a decent amount of stays each month and profiting from them. If you're getting 10 a month then you will definitely be in the good graces of the hotels, but this just isn't enough if you want to stay at the hotel once a weekend per month. You can likely get a free stay at one of their hotels for a weekend, or possible a week, one time a year if you're sending in 10 new clients a month.
There is power in the numbers. Let's say you're getting 100+ new clients for the hotels and making them a great deal of money every month, they will likely put up you in a suite whenever you want lol You can live like a king out there if you're doing this because they will make loads of money off of your traffic and if they tie up a room for a weekend it's not a big deal. You can usually get a ton of free show tickets as well as free room service
Doing something like this is tough, but it's possible. It will take time to refine your methods to pull in traffic and affiliate commissions, but it will be worth it if you like Vegas
In Conclusion:
You always have to think outside of the box when it comes to affiliate marketing if you want to be successful. You will have to put in long hours, work on weekends and boostrap your profits in order to get that sweet suite free hotel stay in Vegas lol
