Getting Investors to notice you isn't easy, but it can be done.
Getting investors to notice you usually is pretty difficult because startups don't know how to do it. Don't worry, you can use some of the methods you already know in order to have investors find you! So many people are afraid to get into bed with an investor because if you give away too much of your company then you don't have complete control of what you want to do. If you have a team put together that is already top notch, then the investors won't have to add people to your business in order to make it better, they will just need to add money and that's an easier thing for them to agree to than rebuild your company lol.
When it comes to investors ponying up their money to push your business into the stratosphere, you will need a few things in order to catch their attention...
- Sales
- Sign Ups
- Good Reviews and PR
- A Unique Idea or The Best Idea
Now you're probably saying "If I have all of that already, I'm not going to need an investor!" Oh really, you think you're going to make 500+ million over night with just a unique idea and a few months of hard work? NOPE! Think of an investor as a time travel button and when they sign on they will give you access to this button. You will then skip ahead 100 years and carry on like nothing ever changed, except your R&D budget of course lol. An investor should be seen as your ticket to freedom in the online world, if you can convince them to work with you then you're on your track to being extremely successful.
If you can somehow get an investor in at the seed stage, then you're doing something right. Not many big investors will jump all in when there is a band new company with an idea because they aren't sure if you'll be able to do what you say you will. If you do get an investor at this stage you won't see much money because they're smart, they will invest $15,000 to $75,000 if there's a chance you could make millions and they will want a good percentage of your company. I would turn this down in a heart beat because if you do what you know you can, you will get much bigger offers down the road for a much lower percentage of your shares.
Finding investors on Facebook
One easy way to get a bunch of investor traffic is to actually go to facebook
You can run an ad stating that you're looking for investors to push your already profitable business. You'll need to get super targeted when you do this so you're not wasting money on stay at home moms with a few grand in their account. You want to look for the whales and to do this you'll have to search high and low for them while excluding the small fish. Be sure to set up retargeting and you'll notice a higher success rate when it comes to getting emails from these investors.
Finding investors through Adwords
A lot of investors are actually having teams of people search through Google to figure out what the hot new website is. By doing this they could actually come across your website in the ad listings and be intrigued. They see that you're looking for an investor and they will usually contact you if they don't know what kind of profits you're already turning.
The setup for Adwords is similar to facebook in that you have to be super specific with your targeting, but it's a little different. You can't advertise to keywords such as "Angel Investors" and "Private Investors" because you'll just show up with platforms that are asking businesses to list their needs and you won't be in front of the actual investors. Figure out the companies that are actually doing the investing and target their business names. Sure you'll get some traffic from people who are searching those investment corporations, but there is a decent chance you will get notice by the company itself if you word your add just right.
In Conclusion:
It's not entirely difficult when it comes to finding an investor, you just need to meet their requirements in order to get them to contact you. If you're not already making money then it's much more difficult to get someone to invest. If you're looking for seed money then you better have a pretty damn good business plan and exit strategy in place to convince someone to open up their wallets.
