Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business

Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business will help you out a ton. A lot of people will use a P.O. box for a business but when you have to mail something and your client/customer sees "P.O. box 1394 blah blah blah" they think that you're not as professional as you really are. Setting up a real address that is not your own house is what you're looking for, and I'm here to help you out.

How do I set up a real address that isn't my house or a P.O. box?
Well that's pretty simple actually because you'll pretty much be setting up a P.O. box. Right now you're thinking "What?!?!?! You just told me not to set up a P.O. box!!!!!" and it's ok to think that. What you'll be doing is going to UPS and setting up a mailbox with them. When you set up a mailbox through UPS they give you a Suite Number instead of a P.O. number. So when you have to put your address on something it will say "493 example road, suite #239" and people think you're just in an office building on the second floor Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business UPS started doing this to help out small businesses look more professional and avoid the dreaded P.O. box address that is only seen as a mailbox at the post office.

Setting up your mailbox
When you're setting up your mailbox you only need some basic information like your name, address, email and phone number in case they have to get a hold of you because of a returned item taking up space at their office. I've had a mailbox/suite at the UPS location down the street from my house for around 3 years and I've never been spammed with emails or phone calls, so you should be safe Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business

How much does it cost?
Well the beauty of this is that these mailboxes don't cost much at all. You're looking to do a small mailbox you can get them for around $45 to $75 for a 3 month period and pay as you go or you can get it for the entire year for around $225 to $260. The pricing really depends on the location and since they are all operated by franchise owners it depends on what they are wanting to charge for the mailbox.

Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business

You won't need a medium or large mailbox if you're just using this to show you as a professional or if you just plan on mailing out items from the UPS location. If you get returns on your items you will get an email letting you know there is something for you to come pick up. Normally when I get the email I go in when I'm near their location which is almost every day since it's within walking distance lol.

In conclusion, set up a mailbox with your nearest UPS location so that you can have a Suite number and not a P.O. box so you look more professional. Also, a lot of places will allow you to register your business if you have a suite number but not a P.O. box, so it's more convenient for that situation as well Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business It's affordable for almost everyone running a legitimate business and can be a tax write off since it's for your business and not yourself.

I have just one question: who even sends regular mail any more?
Kidding aside, that's a cool trick Razzy! I didn't knew that having a P.O. box is bad for business in the US.
Can you validate your business on Google My Business using this method? For some time now I've noticed that none of my clients get that confirmation letter and I swear I'm putting in the addresses correctly.

I'm not 100% sure if you can validate it on Google My Business but there's only one way to find out lol Using a real address instead of a P.O. box for your business

Google is pretty up to par when it comes to something like this, but I'm not sure how UPS will mask it. There are plenty of locations that have suite #'s and it's an actual office so I'm not sure if it will work with a mailbox having a suite number or not. Google may have all the mailbox suite numbers indexed and they could just deny you from validation if that's the case.

Pardon me for this comment. In the olden days, the so called P.O. box was very popular. It was the recourse of travelers who don't have a fixed address. At least they can collect communications addressed to them. However, in the 1980s, the P.O. box scam got popular. Scammers used the P.O. box to fool their customers. It only stopped when the post office started to monitor the suspected P.O. boxes. And now, perhaps the P.O. box is not that popular anymore and may make you lose your credibility.
