Adwords vs. Bing Ads vs. Facebook ads - Which one should be used and for what.
Everyone that is reading this could possibly have a website, but they might not know which platform to start advertising on. I've used all three of the bigger platforms for various websites and I can give you a general overview of what you need to use and why. I would go into super detail about setting up your campaigns, but that's for another discussion
Well then, let's get started!
What is PPC?
PPC (pay per click) is a way to get your website listed at the top of the search results for a price. You can pay per measure (1,000 views) or pay per click and each has it's own benefits. You won't know which method works best for you until you test them out yourself, which you should always do. Paying per measure works well when you have a high click through rate. If you're getting a bunch of clicks without many impressions, you will save money on your advertising since you're paying $X.XX per 1,000 visitors. If you have a low CTR (click through rate) you should focus on the pay per click model since you won't be wasting money on your ad views. Test these out and see which works best.
Adwords:
This is Googles advertising platform and it is possibly the best one since Google has the majority of the search traffic in the world. So if they have the most traffic, they should have the biggest ROI for you since they don't have to be as greedy when it comes to their payments, usually. Adwords works well for almost any type of website as long as you're targeting the correct keywords. You could be wasting a ton of money targeting the wrong keywords and getting a load of clicks with no conversions, so be careful. A keyword could send you an estimated 500 clicks in a month but not result in a sale because you're targeting "Free SEO Services" and you sell a $750 service. Adwords works extremely well when you can get on the shopping results. People will see the image of the product and the price before they click through which results in a higher conversion rate since they know what they're getting into prior to clicking. Doing this on Bing/Yahoo will work too, but not as well since they don't have as much traffic.
Bing Ads:
This is the ad platform that allows you to advertise on Bing, Yahoo! and their entire network if you want. This is almost the same thing as Adwords so I won't go into too much detail. I like using Bing Ads if I'm targeting old people, I'm not sure why, it just works lol. I usually don't opt for Bing ads since a lot of the services I sell are SEO and Web Design related so I want to cast my line in a bigger pool of fish which is Google
You can do basically the same thing on Bing that you can do on Google, so run them at the same time and see what works best for you.
Facebook Ads:
If you haven't caught on, this is facebooks ad platform where you can get your links in front of whoever you want. You can target people based on various interests and age so it's pretty sweet. I like using facebook ads when I'm running a eCommerce type website because it has the similar affect when you run a shopping ad on Adwords. You can get the image and price in front of the people before they click through and this usually increases your sales. Facebook ads are nice to use when doing market research since you can super target where your ads show up. I like doing this based on specific countries or if it's a very small geo located niche, I'll target specific states or town. It's nice because you can do the same cost per measure or pay per click like on Adwords or Bing Ads. The interface is pretty user friendly as well, which I like a lot
In conclusion, I prefer to use Adwords for most of my PPC campaigns since it has the most traffic. I do like using Bing ads for the same reason as Adwords, but the traffic just doesn't compare to Adwords. Setting up the same campaign on Adwords and Bing Ads will allow you to target almost everyone in the world, which is nice. I really like using facebook for eCommerce websites because it's good for market research and building your brand.
