So a lot of people are talking about what the newer trends will be in 2017 and we've seen some changes for the good and bad. I'm here to figure out what you think will be the newest SEO trends that are just around the corner. I personally take the punches as they come and usually benefit from the changes because I do all of my backlink building and optimization legitimately and I don't try to inject my links into peoples websites like Russian hackers do lol.
What do you think could be the next big trend of 2017?
With how the ranking algorithms have been going, I think it's going to move onto topics and not just keywords. I've read in a few places that actually agree with me saying that the algorithms are only advancing and by targeting topics they can fine tune what they want the search results to show. Now on the other hand there are people who say that this is a far fetched idea and that it will probably never happen. And to those negative Nancies I say that it was a far fetched idea to be making money online, but we do it today lol. Focusing on specific topics and not just keywords will allow people with SEO knowledge to be more of themselves when writing, and we all know that Google loves it when you're being yourself when writing content. So if you're one of those people who think this couldn't happen, why do you think that?
Are you a fan of the big SEO changes that the Search Engines do?
I myself don't mind the updates because like I said above, I try to follow the rules as well as I can and don't do anything that could harm my websites. By doing this I usually see a rankings increase whenever there is an update to the search algorithm. Now I say usually because I don't always feel the love from the updates like I normally do, and this could be for various reasons. I may have optimized my content too much or there is something broken on my page that the search engines didn't like and now I'm deranked slightly because of it. It's tough to say what exactly will be hurting you if you do everything right, but as long as you're doing your best you should be ok.
What are your thoughts on the mobile optimization update done in late 2016?
Were your rankings affected by this because your website was not responsive or did you not notice a difference? I myself saw an increase in traffic and rankings because I guess I was ahead of the curve on this one. I was already targeting mobile traffic on my websites so to make the conversions better I had responsive designs. This helped me out a lot when Google did their responsive update which favored mobile friendly websites. I didn't see a huge spike in traffic and sales, but if I had to put a number on it I would say it was around a 20% increase. Obviously my traffic started to settle after other website owners began to mage their websites responsive, but it was fun to see the potential my websites could be doing year round
What do you fear about the 2017 algorithm updates?
I personally fear that my websites will be blacklisted and burned at the stake, but I fear that every year lol. I'm sure everyone is afraid of pushing their SEO campaigns too much and ending up on the dreaded blacklist that is almost impossible to escape, but we're not really holding the keys to that fate so it's up to Google and the other search engines whether they want to drop the ban hammer on us or not lol. Another thing I'm afraid of is seeing my sales plummet due to a minimal change in the search algorithm. Sure I can continue to pay for my PPC campaigns, but the organic traffic sent from the search engines is pure gold that I don't have to pay per click.
In conclusion, we're all at the mercy of the search engines and how they want to rank our websites. We can do everything right according to what we've learned over the years but it can all be taken away from us overnight, which would literally kill some of us. Keep reading everything you can about how the search algorithm works and be sure to stay on the safe side

My Rankings a went UP on each Update they make (as I too Follow the Rules - that's all I know how to do).
But this will be the year of the Mobile Device.
I suggest using Google's AMP for Mobile Opt.
And also make sure to optimize all MEDIA Types for mobile. So for Youtube Videos, no more Annotations. Use END CARDS only since they're mobile optimized. - and I'm a big fan of Uploading Custom Captions, then getting involved in the TRANSLATION Aspect of Captions.
Look at your Video's Viewer Demographics - and create Translations Accordingly.
This can be time consuming. But I would imagine there are people here on Seocheckout that can do it.
Just post a WTB at seocheckout.bid
Or Search Listings.
Too bad we can't search Users based on their Location or Country.
