So many people are asking "How do I monetize my website?" and it's not as difficult as it seems. We first have to figure out if you're building a website specifically to monetize it or are you just trying to capitalize on the traffic you are already getting. Some people build networks specifically to monetize in order to pull in a little bit of money from each click here and there while others just want to make some money from their authority websites.
Where you can get your monetization code
Now monetizing is a pretty easy task for most of us, but a few of us may not know where to get strips of code in order to monetize a website. Below are a few platforms where you can sign up and begin using your own code which is tracked to your profile so when you get a click, you get a few pennies or dollars.
Google Adsense - Adsense is one of the bigger platforms because they are owned by Google. Adsense will place ads wherever you place the code on your pages and it will read your content and base the ads off of what they see on your page.
BuySellAds - BSA is like adsense in where you place a piece of code on your website, but it differs because businesses are going to be paying you for an ad placement. You set the price and when someone pays for an ad it automatically shows up on your website. BSA gets 20% of the sale and you get the remaining 80% obviously.
ClickBank - This is an affiliate platform where you can register and get your own affiliate links to digital products. You'll have to search for specific products in order to put them on pages that related. Or you can go the route where you build a page on your website specifically for the digital product.
Amazon - Amazon has a huge affiliate following because you can literally advertise everything they have on their marketplace. The only downside of Amazons affiliate system is that their cookie duration is much shorter than normal systems.
If you already own a website and want to capitalize on it's traffic
If you have a website or blog that you set up in hopes of just getting people to read your content, then you would fall in this section. Monetizing your content for your users is pretty simple. Basically you're going to be putting strips of code above, within, or below your content and possibly on the sidebars to entice clicks. Obviously getting a click will gain a few cents to a few dollars depending on your niche, but that's a discussion for another day.
You'll want to keep your monetization code above the fold of your website because that will result in the most click throughs and more money in your pocket. Keeping you code above the fold means you need it to be visible when someone loads your homepage or subpage. If someone has to scroll down to see your ad, then it's not above the fold. Think of it this way, if you're on a laptop see it as a book, page 1 is the keyboard and page 2 is the screen. Where the "book" folds is near the bottom of your screen, get it?
If you plan on setting up a website, or a network of sites, with plans to monetize and make money
Now this is more of an uphill battle because you're starting out fresh. You'll need to do proper keyword research and figure out what is reasonable to target and what is pointless. The pointless niches are ones where you're going to get $15 per click. Yes it would be nice to make that amount of money per click but it's not likely that you'll crack into the top 3 pages in Google, Yahoo! and Bing because those advertisers are million dollar companies and they also pay for SEO on their own pages which ranks them for those high paying keywords. What you'll want to target are the low to medium paying keywords because you'll have a quicker turn around time when it comes to implementing SEO techniques and getting rankings then clicks.
You'll need to write a load of fresh content each week for every website you have in your network, or just your one website. You can hire people here on Seocheckout if you want, but be sure to stay on top of your orders because you'll need to get that content on there as quick as possible. You'll be pushing brand new websites up the rankings so don't expect overnight success. But when you do start to crack into the top 10 you'll have a massive amount of content which will increase the likelihood of your traffic reading multiple pages and eventually clicking through on one of you links.

With adsense I try just place 3 ads on one page header and middle and then at the footer. I am just recently promoting now and hopefully click rate will be much better. I will take your strategies on board. Great post mate and do believe you got some great tips there and this will help a lot of members out there. I always monetize my sites and do my research I use adsense also adhitz is a good one. Just recently started using amazon to monetize so hope that brings something great my way.
