Do You Know Your SEO Alphabet?

I've put together and A-Z SEO Alphabet. It's nothing special really. Just an A-Z of some of the most popular words when it comes to SEO and what their meanings are.

An A-Z of The SEO Alphabet

  • A is for Anchor Text - A clickable text in a hyperlink that contains a keyword. It should be keyword rich!
  • B is for Backlink - A link from one website to another. It's better to get a few high quality links than lots of low quality ones.
  • C is for Content - All the text you have on your website, includes images, videos etc.
  • D is for Deep Links - Building links to the inner pages of your site and not just your homepage!
  • E is for External Links - Links that take visitors away from your site to another site. These are good when they are high authority sites.
  • F is for Fresh Content - Something you'll want to have on your site/blog at least once a month!
  • G is for Google Search - The most used Search Engine on the planet with over 3 billion searches performed a day.
  • H is for Headings - These tell people what your sites content is about and should contain your targeted keywords.
  • I is for Internal Links - Where you link from one page to another internally on your site. This can help spread link juice around and aid with navigation.
  • J is for Javascript - A scripting language that adds features to your site when used in conjunction with HTML. Not all browsers accept Javascript.
  • K is for Keywords - Those words and phrases which you want to target and rank for in the Search Engines.
  • L is for Link Building - The process of building incoming links to your site to increase its ranking and authority in the Search Engines.
  • M is for Meta Description - A short description of the content on each page that should be relevant and unique.
  • N is for Niche - That corner of the market you're trying to dominate and what the topic of your content is focused on.
  • O is for Organic - These are unpaid search results that come to your site organically by searching them in Google.
  • P is for Penalty - A punishment for a website that has been caught trying to rank highly by using some spammy / black hat method.
  • Q is for Quality - Quality over quantity. Whether it's backlinks or content, quality is always more important than quantity.
  • R is for Redirect - A method used to change the URL on the fly by redirecting the user to another place on the Internet.
  • S is for Social Media - Those websites that people use to share important updates like what they had for breakfast this morning.
  • T is for Trust Rank - A Search Engine algorithm that gives more weight to links that come from related/relevant sites to yours.
  • U is is for URL - Such as your website address and is made from letters and numbers or a mix up of your keywords and or brand name.
  • V is for Visitor - The people that search for and land on your site where the more visits you get, the more money you can earn.
  • W is for WordPress - The worlds most popular and comprehensive CMS system that can be used from anything from blogs to full online stores.
  • X is for XML - Extensible Markup Language that is a format used by Search Engines so they can easily read and understand all your pages and site content.
  • Y is for Yahoo - That long forgotten about Search Engine that nobody really uses anymore. Do they?
  • Z is for Zeitgeist - Google Zeitgeist is the annual review that sums up how the world was searched during the year.

And that's the A-Z of the SEO Alphabet.

I hope it helps!

Mike.
