Can you anyone give me a good explanation of how to do keyword research specifically for Youtube?
Is there a keyword research tool for this? I have only come across keyword research tools for the web but not for Youtube.
I do ok, I just do my keyword research and then I check those keywords in Youtube to see what videos are there, how many views, likes and comments they have and how they have done their SEO optimization for those videos…
But what I really want is a tool that I can just enter keywords into and it will spit out at me how many Youtube searches there are for that term and how many competitors are targeting that keyword too.
Any advice?

I first start with keywords planner since what is search on Google will probably get search on youtube also, but not in every case!
Test youtube suggestion keywords, chances are those are the things people search on youtube, also search LSI based keywords are a good source of potential keywords.
Implement those in you title and description, but also don't ignore the youtube tags, that can help a lot on the long run.
Youtube ranking algorithm is very different from Google's search algorithm, try looking at successful videos that are not viral and figure out why those are ranking well and yours aren't. Youtube ranking signals are also highly based on CTR so make sure all of your videos have catchy custom thumbnails! I've done some youtube optimization and it turned out pretty good.
