3D printers should i buy one?

Hey guys, so today i am surfing the web looking for new ways to make money. I know as always rite? So i come across a mini 3D printer and i think to myself what can you make with this thing? So i go to YouTube and i find a guy that makes toys with a regular 3D printer and he resells them on Ebay and in yard sales ETC. The full sized one is like nine hundred bucks but the mini is 349. Me and my wife are curious to know if any of you have ever used one of these and if so is it a good investment? What kind of things do you make with it? How long did it take you to make your money back? Any feedback will be used in any decisions i make. You guys are always very helpful and i look forward to what you have to say.

As always thank you for reading please don't forget to follow me.

Oh I am interested to know these things too Jkeyz2!

I also watched a video recently about how you can make things with a 3D printer. I was researching something to do with kids blocks, similar to Lego but the bigger ones. Apparently people are making a killing making these blocks with a 3D printer!

Something so simple but always a hit with the kids so it will never go out of fashion! I actually bought a pack of these types of blokcs really cheap from someone that makes them.

This must be a really cool thing to get into to make money.

Hey Lynne im seriously considering it im looking into how much supplies cost to make certain things. I also have taken the time to see if they have pre made blueprints for certain things so i don't have to design anything. If i can get this to be easy stress free then im going to go for it! I have the space in the mining operation for a little workshop. Blogging has saved me in so many ways and im starting to become passionate about it but i need to make more money. If this printer thing works out we could be in the money, i even hear you can make any plastic gun part. I would have to find out the legality about this in my state but it could be BIG money in my location. We are the 2nd amendment state, everyone owns a firearm. In fact here in NH you can get a pistol and carry it and you don't need any special permit. Just your resident license. Thanks for sharing Lynne I appreciate your time.

I am sure it would be a huge earner. If you do get into it then I would love to know all the details!

I wouldn't go that adventurous, I would probably just make building blocks for kids LOL. I know it is boring but it sells.

You can even take my idea and make building blocks too and then you can tell me how well it works and all the juicy details.

I think it is a very interesting idea. I do not understand much about these types of printers. All I have is a general idea about them, but from a video I saw it does make sense to consider investing in one and try to sell items you make with it. The initial investment is not that high, and as Lynne pointed out, you can always start with something simple such as blocks, which are after all always in demand. I wish you luck! Let us know how it goes if you decide to invest in one.

Yes i agree starting out small is great. i have been doing alot of research since i wrote this topic. I am finding that a ton of people are doing this with success. The printer i want with everything i need is about $2500. They have many sites that have print designs ready to go fro FREE! Some people have designs that they charge for as well. My point is i don't have to be a designer to do this which was my main concern. I am finding that i can make things like Batman Masks, Star wars replica's, and MORE! These things can be very profitable and i think its going to work out. I have to discuss things over with my wife more and with my business partner but be sure that this is going to happen. When it does i will post a topic and pictures here so you guys can stay updated. Thanks for sharing!

2.5k for a 3D printer is pretty cheap if you ask me! Back when these things started to take off I remember being way more expensive! There was all this controversy about how can you actually build a gun with a 3D printer, a pretty powerful gun that can virtually kill someone.

I think 3D printers are the future, in 20 years from I bet we all will have one in our homes, wonder what all of this will mean for manufacturers of small plastic products since you can already produce your own stuff with free designs you can find online.

I agree if technology just continues to get cheaper this kind of thing will be available in every home within the next 20-25 years for sure. Me and my partner where talking and he said the same thing. He had no idea i could get a printer with filament for 2500. If your curios on what printer im looking at ill include the link at the bottom. Its called the maker bot + replicator. Maker bot is the industry standard for 3D printing they are the best hands down. I have been doing so much research and yes you can make full guns i have seen articles of people getting caught on planes with "Printed Guns" or Knives as well. My goal is to print little toys home goods and things like that. Here is the link it is 2000 and then with the filament pack about 2500 total.

Check it out

I thought about coming up with some of the small products using the 3D Printer. But not a lot of people can get the best out of these printers. Because you need good ideas of products. And selling those 3D products would require some effort and salesman ship on your end. I don't think it's that easy for many people.

I am not ashamed to admit that I have not seen a 3d printer yet. But based on what I had read in technical magazines, it can print figurines in its entirety with plastic as the medium. A picture of a dog can be printed in 3d to simulate the form and shape of the dog in the picture. So maybe we can make toys with the 3d printer.
