Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

Starting up a new website, whether it be your first time or 100th, is a daunting task because you never know what the outcome will be. Will it be successful and let me retire at an early age? Will it be a life sucking leach that doesn't make me any money and drives a wedge between me and my girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband? You never know!

Don't let the future of unknowing be the reason that you didn't try to strike it rich online. There are so many outlets you can utilize like wordpress+themes, Adwords, Adcenter, buysellads, and various other things that can help you get a website up and running with little investment that allows you to take a little more and put it into advertising.

You just need to know what kind of website to put up.

Research yourself. Figure out what you love the most and start revolving a website about that idea. If you like animals, then start a wordpress blog about animals and link to amazon products using your affiliate link while also having adsense on your pages to monetize the people who want to click through but not buy anything. Obviously you won't make as much from adsense, but those people wouldn't have purchased anyway (well, that's what you should think lol).

After you get your idea down, set up a hosting account on NameCheap, HostGator or T35hosting and use their one click install system to set up wordpress.

After you get wordpress set up, go over to themeforest and purchase a sweet theme that fits your niche well. Actually, you can buy any theme where you like the functionality and customize it to your niche. I do that all the time Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

START WRITING!!! Get your content up and running and be sure to get some affiliate links around your blog/website so that you can make some money from the traffic you'll get later on.

Advertise, Advertise, Advertise! If you have the funding, you should definitely get on Adwords. This will allow you to immediately get traffic to your pages and hopefully make a sale here and there. Plenty of webmasters set up amazon affiliate websites with the sole purpose of getting them on PPC campaigns to get cheap clicks that convert into high sales Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

You're only limited by your imagination Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

So get out there and make some money!

Razzy this is a brilliant read. I think that most people, especially beginners don't get started simply because it is so overwhelming.

I am busy with a new website now which I know will be a success but I am facing a few challenges getting started. I will overcome them at some stage, I just need to find the time to decide how I am going to build this baby!

Yeah, everything seems pretty daunting to beginners and it's not really if you know what to do. I talk to people all the time and they always ask "How long does it take to build a website?" and my response is always "Well, it could take 1 hour or 1 year, it just depends on what you want" lol Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

I then let them know how they can get a quick website up in a day and they are mind blown because they thought you had to hire a programmer to do everything and it would cost thousands of dollars per design lol.

I've actually set up websites for family members that knit, make jewelry, and other stuff like that. They sell on etsy, ebay, and other platforms but never knew how to get a website going. I'll basically just set them up on wordpress and make them buy a theme that I pick, then I'll configure the theme so that it's customized to their niche. After that I show them how to log in, post, moderate posts, etc. and they are extremely grateful Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate! Of course I keep my fancy little "Powerd By MyCompany" or "Designed By MyCompany" link in the footer lol Starting a new website is intimidating, but you can dominate!

Yes I agree with you and Lynne. It is a huge task, and it can be quite overwhelming. However once you get started you are sort of done with the most difficult part. Obviously you will need to keep adding content and updating and so on to make sure that the site is up to date and always has fresh content. However the main and most demanding task especially for a beginner, is to set it all up for the first time. It was good to read through the tips and how you discussed this as it could give some encouragement to those who are trying to start a site but have not really got down to do it yet.

One of the most important things I learned about the online arena is to never wait around, you need to have GUTS.
Guts to make things happen and the courage to take a step forward even if you are not 100% sure about the outcome. Nothing big has ever been build without taking risks,so you need to have guts to take them!

Don't wait around planning things, a lot of people will just give up and never exist the "planning" phase, they focus too much on getting everything perfect and the moment just passes them by.

"Never wait around" that's a good advice. I began writing online in 2010, if I had launched my self-hosted blog back then, I would have a well earning blog by now. However, I continued publishing on the third-party website. I did earn money, but when sites were shut down my earning streams were also shut.

Two years ago, when I decided to launch my first website, it was very intimidating. First of all, I was undecided about the domain name because I was not sure what kind of website I wanted t to create. I had a lot of ideas and did not know which idea I should follow first. Secondly, finding a domain registrar and web host was very daunting task. I was a newbie and I did not want to regret by choosing the wrong domain registrar and wrong web host. Furthermore, I knew nothing about building a website. I had basic idea on wordpress because I had used wordpress on various writing sites, however, I did not know how to customize wordpress because I did not have that option when I published on the third party wordpress based writing site.
Currently, I have six websites I am pretty good on what I am doing.

I have plans of having my own website and at this early, I have been doing personal research. And I know that it is not easy to own a website because it needs your full attention especially in terms of contents and traffic. First off, you need to define the source of the content like am I the one to write all or will I have a content provider to help me out. Next is the marketing. Social media is my best best particularly Facebook because it is free. However, it is not enough if I will be the only one to do the marketing chores. Oh well, I am getting far ahead.
