Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

Now I'm sure a lot of us have read something like this one time or another, but I'm going to still talk about it Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

Recently I've been going over a few passive ways to make money online and this one came to mind because it's an oldie but goodie and works in EVERY niche Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

You can set up one, two or 10+ websites in the same niche with the sole intention of pulling in traffic and then selling ad space on them to companies who are looking to gain leads which will convert into clients. Normally you'll want to stick with niches where the company can pay you a good amount per ad on each website, or if you bundle the sites into one big ad and sell it for a higher price. Targeting niches that can pay you a decent amount per month, $750+ a month, will lessen your work load since you won't have to add multiple advertisements to the website and you can just load up one or two banners from the main advertiser Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

You can even do a multisite type thing through wordpress and run all the sites through one dashboard Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

Select a niche, break down the biggest keywords for that niche, then target each of them with different websites.

I'll use SEO as an example

Keywords:

  • SEO
  • Backlinks
  • PPC
  • Online Marketing
  • Lead Generation

I would then set up a website dedicated to these 5 keywords above and try to get them ranked. These are just a few, and they're extremely difficult to rank for, but just imagine what the advertisers would pay you if you had all your websites ranked for these keywords ;)

You'll want to geo target if you do something like this because that will yield quicker results. You can get the websites ranked quicker than difficult niches since the competition will be much lower than trying to go for a global type keyword.

I've done this with the dentist niche and pulled in a few advertisers paying me $750+ a month for just a banner on my pages Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space. I had the traffic statistics through google analytics to back up my claims that they would get more clients through their doors with an ad on my website(s) Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

You'll want to pitch a bundle ad placement at a slightly lower price in order to just deal with one advertiser across all of your websites, this increases client satisfaction because they'll get more traffic and you'll only have to deal with one person buying the spots Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

If you've done this in the past, let me know what your results were. I had fun doing it but haven't had time to give my websites the proper TLC they deserve so the traffic dropped off and I lost my few clients :'( I may just hire someone to post content on these websites weekly and do some off page optimization in order to stay on top Setting up websites with the only intention of selling ad space.

Lot of us must have done something like that in the past may be with different reasons but most must have tried their hands on this.

If we have sites that already rank for high traffic keywords than why look anywhere else and focus on those sites and improve content, on , off page optimization etc. Adsense could bring in good income from a few sites alone. Advertisers that look for promotion might be doing it for seo reasons mostly as they could spend a little more on adwords and get lot more options for advertising.

If the quality is maintained and the domain has got good strength for passing enough juice than selling limited links is also a good option or use these sites as back up or personal blog network for main sites. I have done that in the past and results were simply awesome and ranked few of my own sites in top 2-4 on page 1 for keywords with KD>90 but occupied most of the day, every single day, managing your own dedicated server than securing and monitoring also takes up time, hackers , malware distributors do some mischief :-). I had near about 50 sites on good expired, aged domains, 7 different hosting providers and didn't have to depend much on building links everyday.

Yes I agree that it is quite a good way to make money online. It is all about managing to target prospective advertisers though, and that may not always be easy.

I love your idea thanks for sharing. Can you also do something similar like you are saying with a facebook business page of some kind? I have noticed facebook pages always seem to rank higher in searches.

Thanks Razzy, this is a great idea, I never thought of setting up any website for the sole purpose of selling advertising space on it. I can totally see that there would be a lot of potential in this.

I know what I am going to be doing for my next website but I just haven't had the time to set it up yet and now that I have read this post my brain is ticking on how I can utilize that website to also sell additional ad space on it so thank you. I am so glad I can now put this into my plan before I actually launch my website.

When I launched my blogs and websites, I had couple of things in my mind
1. earn revenue from the blogs and websites
2. flip websites
I have not been able to do both. While I am earning little money from my blogs and websites, I have not been able to flip websites.
I have never sold ad space, however, selling ad space on my blogs and websites is also on my cards. In order to do this, I need to pull a lot of traffic as no one will be willing to put ads on website that does not bring good traffic.
