The Importance of Comments on your website blog

I know that getting comments on my blog is important because is shows that my website is popular, it shows that my content is engaging and it also adds more content to my website so I can possibly rank for more keywords.

But that said what if lots of people read my content but I don't really get many comments, is this necessarily a bad thing?

I have one website where my readers prefer to engage with me on social networks instead of on my website. So they will click on a post on Facebook for example, read my post and then comment on the Facebook post and not my website.

I would really love comments on that website, I have been thinking of creating a WTB for some comments. Do you think this will help with ranking and encouraging other people to also comment?

Allowing comments on your website can make you frustrated sometime. it's obviously good thing to have, but it also attract a lot of spammers to post comments, sometime totally irrelevant. By manual approving comments, can keep you busy sometimes for hours

While your visitors would like to interact with your posts more on Facebook, then i suggest to try using something like:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/comments-from-facebook/ or similar

this plugins can be awesome feature to your blog too ;)

Oh that is a brilliant idea Anwebservices! Does this mean if I post something on Facebook and they comment there that it shows on my website?

Yes I know what you mean about the spammers, but I don't have such an amazing problem of manually approving loads of spam comments

Oh cool, thanks. I am hoping it means if I post that content on facebook it adds those comments to my blog. That would change my game big time!

Yes comments can make a blog look more active and engaging, however you would also be running the risk of getting negative comments as well as spammy ones. So when you accept comments you need to make it a point to review them on a regular basis. I do not think that it would make such a huge difference actually. There is nothing wrong with creating a WTB, don't get me wrong, but I would not go through the hassle of doing it if I were the owner of the site. Sometimes people do not comment simply because they are lazy to do so, so maybe all they need is a little motivation or instigation.

Thanks EliteWriter, it sounds like you don't like the WTB area? I have never used it but I would think all the new and desperate sellers would contact me with very low prices and possibly low quality services... so I have not yet given it a go.

I guess just because people bid doesn't mean I have to go with anyone if I don't like any of the offers, right?

Comments mean engagement. When there is engagement on your post, your bounce rate will substantially reduce. Search engine also loves engagement. They rank the content higher if there is a lot of engagements. Comment also ad content on your post. A new comment will make your two years old content fresh. fresh contents are loved by search engines.

There is a saying that the proof of the pudding is in the eating and in blogging, the proof is the comments. The more comments your blog gets, the more popular you become especially if the comments are more for the positive. And the number of readers does not equate to the number of comments. That means you need to get readers who are active in commenting so your blog can have many positive comments.
