I've been talking in few other discussions about amazon merch and I thought I'd give a quick tutorial on what it is and how to use it.
So, amazon merch is amazons way to take over the tshirt selling business by having designers sell their own designs on amazon tshirts. It's a really clever way to get amazing artists to put their images on your shirts

Just so you know, it's not an instant setup. You'll have to request an invitation and wait to be accepted, but it's worth it It took around 3 months for me to be accepted but now it should be quicker since the merch team has been hiring new people to speed up the process. Even if you don't plan on selling right now, it's a good idea to get in and request an invitation now.
So let's fast forward to after you're accepted.
You'll be able to upload 25 images at first and once you sell 25 shirts you'll be upgraded to level 2 where you can upload 50 images. I have friends who have upwards of 5,000 designs uploaded and are selling. These guys are making $150 to $450 a day on complete autopilot since Amazon handles everything
So now let's talk about how you upload your images. It's actually pretty simple
You take your image and you can upload it to the front and/or back of the shirt. See the image below.
NOTE: your image will need to be 4500x5400 pixels in order to fit properly.
After you upload your images you can now pick the type of shirt you want, fit type of the shirt (male, female, or child) and 5 colors you want the shirt to show up in.
When you're starting off you'll want to have the lowest possible price in order for your shirts to sell. This way you can level up quicker and get more designs up to make more money in the long run I priced this shirt at $15.99 and I'll profit $2.03 per sale. I will make next to nothing per sale, but I'll sell more and rank up quicker
After you set up your shirt, you now have to add a description and details. This is where SEO comes into play ;)
I basically hammered the keyword "Marilyn Monroe" so that I show up in the search results more often. I didn't add anything to the description because I think you get the idea lol I'm using my Marilyn Monroe tshirt design since it was removed from my merch account due to trademark law. There are other Marilyn Monroe shirts on amazon, but those companies selling the shirts must have permission to do so.
Now when you continue on after you add your details and description, you'll be shown an example of what your shirt listing will look like.
YOU MUST CLICK "Sell - Publick on Amazon" IF YOU WANT TO SELL SHIRTS WITHOUT PROMOTING THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you choose "Sample - Direct Link Only" then you're only selling to the people you share your link with.
After you click "Submit Product" it will go into review. All designs get approved within 24 hours, which is pretty quick for how many designs are going through amazon merch. Submit your designs in the morning and they'll usually be accepted by lunch time
In time, if you're lucky, you can make a good passive income and get paid by amazon

Oh, I forgot to mention, all your shirts are available for amazon prime since it's amazon selling your shirts, not you On you shirts page it will sale "Sold by Amazon" How cool is that!

I have all my sales go through my business account for tax purposes, correct :)
I have a registered business so I pay myself whenever I need money. I need to set up a payment plan for when I want to buy a new car, because ya know, you'll need to provide income reports and if I'm not getting checks I can't prove it lol.
Since amazon merch is pretty much automated, I can have my profits deposited into my business account and I can use that money for other projects pretty easily :)

Yeah, I'm the same way. I wanted to put down 5k to 7k on a nice used car but the lady in my life wanted a brand new 2016 ford escape. Luckily I didn't have to really prove my income since my best friends step dad worked at the dealership and handled everything for us lol :D
This is the first brand new car I've ever had and it is pretty nice not having to worry about anything breaking because it's under warranty :D I normally bought pick ups and drove them like they were tanks haha :D

Nice! I want a new car soon. Mine is a 2000 model with 220 000kms on the clock.
It is still going really well since it is a BMW but I do think that soon I might start having to cover some nasty repair bills, as is natural when you have an old car.
I want to sell it before this starts happening and then buy a new car. I have no idea what I want to buy though. I know my husband is very into cars. Maybe I should just tell him what my price range is and he should go and get me something nice :)

yeah, you might get a quicker acceptance if you have an amazon affiliate account, but I haven't tested that since I don't have one lol :D

I logged in and checked my account to see what sold lol. Your first 25 spots are your bread and butter, don't put stuff in there just because YOU like it. Those first designs have to be tediously analyzed to figure out what is going to sell and rank you up as quick as possible.
Yeah, it's kind of a "Set and Forget" type thing. I actually forgot to log into my account for a while and randomly got a payment from Amazon and remembered why :D I logged in and checked my account to see what sold lol.
You'll have to do a good amount of work at the beginning after you get accepted. You have to start off with 25 great designs at dirt cheap prices in order to level up. Find out what is selling well and try to copy it. I was using shopify combined with a dropshipper which is basically what amazon merch is, but you don't have to find clients since amazon is loaded with people already.
Running your own website to make sales is always a good thing, I would pair up amazon merch with my own website so that I have to sources of tshirt sales. Obviously if you make a sale from your own website you'll have to do a bit more work, but it's worth it if you're making a profit from the sale, right :D

The "Sold by Amazon" is a great selling point. If someone knows that the shirt is printed and sold by amazon they are more than willing to buy since they don't have to deal with a random seller who could take a couple weeks to make and ship their shirts. I've heard they are super quick with their shirts and people usually get them within a week :D

You can probably find some good, and affordable, designers here on SeoClerks. You could also use upwork to try and find someone to do the work for pretty cheap. Just be sure to ask for a portfolio before hiring and check their previous work. Don't hire anyone under a 90% completion rate and 50+ hours under their belt :)

You don't have to sign anything, I didn't. All you do is request an invitation and if/when you're accepted you get to work on uploading your designs
Getting accepted is pretty random I think. I'm pretty sure they just work their way down a list and see who is working online already and who is wanting to break into the market. If you have a website up and running that is selling shirts already, you're more than likely going to get accepted. I didn't even have my website done when i was accepted, I think I had 20 of my 200 designs on there but Amazon didn't care lol.

You sure could, if you had an amazon merch account. All you would do is upload your image and do everything I said in the original post. Your design would usually get accepted within 24 hours and then it's live on Amazon :D

Yup! I haven't researched their search algorithm yet, but I know it's not too advanced. You can keyword stuff the hell out of your listing and you'll have a much higher chance to show up :D

All you have to agree to is their Terms of Service :D You don't have to sign anything, I didn't. All you do is request an invitation and if/when you're accepted you get to work on uploading your designs :D

As of right now people are saying it could take up to 9 months to get approved, but it's worth the wait.
It takes so long because Amazon Merch is essentially in it's late Alpha early Beta stages and they still have to work out all the kinks. They sometimes have a problem with inventory and it's a common thing with services like this because of the holidays. Around Christmas, Amazon froze their merch and no one could upload any new designs due to the fact that they were getting overwhelmed with sales.
I'm sure that when they get everything more streamlined it will be decrease the amount of time it takes to get accepted. And who knows, if you apply now you could get accepted pretty quick if they streamline everything tomorrow :D
