Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what's the difference?

Ok so we all know what a Laptop is but I often see ads promoting Notebooks and they look just the same as Laptops to me.

Now someone mentioned a Netbook in another community discussion.

Can anyone explain the differences between a Laptop, Notebook and a Netbook please?

Hi Lynne thanks for your question. To me Laptop, notebook and netbook almost same. I do not see much different all of them. But, there has some basic different according to user response. And as per as I know laptop convenient for all basic works and notebook for carry to anywhere simply for visiting purpose. Because, it is size more small than laptop computer. And netbook usually made for interment friendly. Some netbook only build by android for using internet more conveniently.

And another different I saw between laptop and notebook and netbook. All laptops has existing CD/DVD room but you will not see any notebook or netbook has existing DVD/CD room.

A notebook and Laptop are very similar. Laptops are more for going out to business calls and you need access to the internet so you bring it. I use my laptop for everything and I love it lol Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what Notebooks tend to be slightly larger, not much, by like an inch or two. When the big companies started making notebooks they were trying to make something that could bridge the gap between personal computers (PCs) and laptops. The only thing though, is that notebooks don't bridge much since you can still get a laptop to be as powerful as a notebook lol Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what Think of it like this, do you want the 45" TV or the 65" TV? Both have the same power and features, but one costs a bit more. The laptop is more like the 45" TV and the notebook is more like the 65" TV Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what I haven't checked the prices of laptops and notebooks so they could be pretty close now, not sure Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what

A netbook was built to be a smaller version of a laptop or notebook. It doesn't have the same power as a common notebook or laptop, but because it's smaller it's preferred for people who travel a lot since it's a very mobile computer. A lot of netbooks come standard with solid states, which is extremely nice Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what The newer ones may not have solid states, so if you're in the market for a netbook be sure to find one with a solid state. You may pay a few extra bucks for the solid state, but it's worth it. You can pretty much do all the same things on a netbook that you could on a laptop or notebook. The standard sizes of a netbook are around 7" to 10" which is much smaller than the smaller laptops and notebooks that are a minimum of 13" but the standard is around 15".

Thanks Razzy... ok so would you say a netbook is like a combination of a laptop and a tablet sort of thing... more convenient to travel around with but more userability than a tablet?

i remember the comment from the other post too, i am glad you brought a little more attention on it as i was a little confused myself to be honest, i was not really sure what the big difference was and this post sure helps out a lot, from what i was able to gather from ideal mikes comments is that these are all pretty much the same thing and the only thing that makes them different really is the size in the device and the size in screen , similar to how iphones come out and the more slim versions come out after

Notebooks and laptops are the same. Netbooks are basically smaller versions of laptops. I used to fancy them as they tend to be more lightweight and take up less space on a table, but when I actually went to buy one I realized that for a bit more money it would be better to invest in a laptop. Netbooks are slimmer and lighter, but at the end of the day laptops are more suited for work purposes, and as someone mentioned even for gaming. If you want something more portable though, I would say go for a netbook since it is less bulky and heavy.

Yes well I am glad I finally asked because it has been on my mind a lot and I've never bothered to find out.

I recently sent my laptop in for repairs and I thought I might have to buy a new laptop so I was not sue what the Notebook was and how it compared. Thankfully my laptop was repaired easily and at a good price so no need anymore for a new machine Laptop vs Notebook vs NetBook - what

I can see how a Notebook would be more appealing for travel but I don't travel very often and I work mostly on my laptop and not my desktop so I need something suited for work.

Laptop usually bigger than a notebook. You can see it clearly if there's dvd drive attached, so mostly its a laptop.

From what I understand, a laptop is a portable computer which means it can serve as a backup of the desktop. The notebook is a smaller version of the laptop in footprint and it is lighter. It is also smaller in the internal components like the memory and the processor. The Netbook is the smallest in terms of internal components because it is designed for internet access only. And although the Netbook can run some other software application, it is not designed for complex programs like video editing.
