Networking is interaction between you and other people in order to build relationships and contacts in a professional or social environment. Network is important because building relationships with other people and getting new contacts will help you when you require skills and knowledge that you don't have as you can approach them for help. You can exchange your knowledge and skills too to develop yourself. As a freelancer, networking is important because if you have contacts, then you can build a quality team easier rather than use people you don't know about. You can also outsource work to your contacts.
As a freelancer, how important do you think networking is?

I've gone to meet ups that were organized through popular marketing forums and they were always a great time. The last one I went to was about 2 years ago and was downtown Chicago and there were about 20 of us who met at a restaurant and since we had so many people, we were given our own party room I got to meet a lot of people in the same niche and hear what they are doing and plan to do. A few of those people I still talk to on a weekly basis and we still hang out to this day. Some of the people have since fallen out of the SEO and Internet Marketing game, but some have gone on to do great things. One of the guys that I'm closer to is actually making around $25,000 a month in the medical niche and sells his inventory to major companies. He doesn't even hold any of the product himself or in a warehouse, he works directly with the manufacturer and gets a commission on each item sold. I'd say he's doing pretty well for himself just being a kind of middle man and not having to hold any of his own inventory lol
I told you about my friend who's in the medical field because he's actually set up an ecommerce website for me, for free. If I didn't network 2 years ago and keep in touch with him, he probably would have charged me an arm and a leg for the site I try to network all the time because I'm always building my business. Gaining clients and making sales isn't all that business is about, you need to build connections in order to thrive. You never know how those connections will come to be an asset later on in life :D I've gone to meet ups that were organized through popular marketing forums and they were always a great time.
