I find it hard to come up with good names for my ebooks. How do you do it?

Hello,
As an author, I find it hard to come up with decent names for my ebooks. I've been struggling with that ever since I launched my first ebook four years ago.

I usually try to come up with something unique, fresh, and something people could remember easily, but it's difficult. I find it easier to come up with names for other people products or business, but I'm having a hard time to do this for myself.

Are you facing the same issues? How do you do it? Where do you get your inspiration?

Why do I find it harder to come up with names for my own products rather than for other peoples products?

Best Regards,

It is very normal to have a block. It also happens to me when I am asked to come up with a title for an article at times. I find it helpful to make a list of keywords used in the content so as to then try to formulate a title from them. Sometimes it is also helpful to make a quick online search and check out some titles of similar ebooks/articles, which might help you get some inspiration. Some days are better than others. So if you just can't come up with anything do not keep thinking. Leave it and try again several hours later or the next day.

Thank you EliteWrite, I appreciate it. A list of keywords to use sounds like a good idea. Perhaps most people are doing this to come up with names for things, but I've never done it. I usually come up with the whole titles in my head and when I have about 3 or 4 different ones, then I'll write them all down and choose one of them. Much like rock-paper-scissors actually. I find it hard to come up with good names for my ebooks. How do you do it?

With names, I kind of just use what comes up to my head. Maybe it isn’t the best title but I think the contents and reviews becomes more important later on. Yes, a good title can be very eye catching but if you have a good reputation for selling quality ebooks, then the title doesn’t matter as much because the author (your) branding is the key to the sales of the book. I am not someone who is good with coming up with names but I think this hasn’t affected the sales of my ebooks. Having said that, I sometimes ask my friends to come up with names for me.

I start writing with a working title. As I continue writing, I come up with an interesting title. If that does not happen, the working title stays and I continue with the book. A good title could crack up when I am working on the second draft. If this also doe snot happen. I create numerous titles based on the book subject. I google these titles. If there are lot of contents including books for that title, I eliminate the possible title and again do a search on another possible title. I continue to do this until I get a fresh title. I then check the search query on Google Keyword planner tool. You can even try book title generator tool. I have done this couple of times and found good titles.
