Can anger make you sick?

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I get very upset or emotionally distressed I end up getting a cold.

I really do believe that it is possible to get sick from being angry.

Do you believe this to be true?

Anger can drain your energy reserves. After all if you are devoting so much time to dealing with drama and anger, then you have no energy or time to deal with anything else.

Any emotional distress can make you feel sick. Though some people seem to thrive on anger and drama and distress.
And, you should avoid those people as they are not sickened by arguments, they look for them.

I have read how stress can lead to heart disease. Anger has a lot of bad effects on the body. I read how if you get angry too often it causes fat levels in the blood to be higher. That can lead to hardening of arteries. Coronary disease is a very scary thing. You should control your temper otherwise it can get you into trouble with your health.

Yes being angry can make you physically sick. It causes your blood pressure to go up, you get flushed, your breathing and heartbeat increases drastically. It takes a while for anger to subside but then the damage is already done to the body. And continuous anger episodes like this, especially if it occurs on a frequent basis will eventually lead to a health breakdown.

Yes, I totally believe that anger will get you sick. When you're angry you heart rate increase, your blood pressure does it too, you are on higher risk of having hear attacks, and if you are blind by anger, you may end up having a car accident or something worst. Also, you will make others get sick and mad at you, because you will say bad things you will regret later. I have learned to take a deep breath, count to ten or more, and hold my tongue, that way my negative attitude won't hurt me or others.

I hate getting angry for it can make me develop fever and those are the moments that I don't want in my life no matter what. So, that is the reason that I have decided to always smile even at the face of getting annoyed.

This is a story that was on the news a few weeks ago. A 60-year old woman took a bus for a 2-hour trip. Midway in the trip, she asked the driver to make a pit stop for she needs to go to the bathroom to urinate. But the driver insulted her by saying she should be wearing diapers so as not to disturb the trip. Aside from that remark, that driver had said so many other insulting statements on the old woman. After sometime, the woman alighted by the sub-terminal of the bus. She went inside the office to complain. But while relating what happened, the woman suffered a stroke and it’s because of excessive anger. She was brought to the hospital and half of her body was paralyzed. I don’t know if she had recovered.
