I feel guilty about my job situation

I'm very lucky to even have a job. Where I live, there is very high unemployment and even some members of my family are unemployed. And, I don't want to complain but some days I wish that I could just sleep all day. I am so tired after work and every day, going to work. I am working 12 hour shifts now and it's just hard on my body. I feel guilty complaining as so many others would wish for any kind of job here.

Many people only work for the weekend. They are not actually enjoying their work. You need to enjoy what you are doing. In that case you would not feel the way you are feeling now.

I like my job a lot, though I don't spend very many hours at it and I don't earn too much. I'm very happy with my life now. Though at one point, I was very unhappy and wished for things to be different.

What you must do is find something that you love, which will also pay good money. Or, even if you only get paid a little, at least that will justify doing that job.

deann , i feel your pain but it is not easy anywhere even if you leave your current job for another. just try to upgrade yourself in terms of skills and education, then search for other jobs that are worth it. better still, you can learn some skills and start a business of your own.

This is the type of situation that we have in Nigeria which makes working a hard thing to do. I would advise that you find ways to adjust your lifestyle and try and eat the best meals you can to be fit for the work. You need to survive and that job gives you the finance needed to survive.

If you feel guilty of complaining because you think you are lucky to have a job then you need to remind yourself every time you think of complaining. Sometimes we forget to count our blessings and easily complain without even thinking of the true state of the situation. I guess you need something to relieve the stress that you are experiencing since you are working for 12 hours that may make you mentally, emotionally and physically stressed out.
