Wisdom teeth

I fear I may have to have my wisdom teeth out. I am not looking forward to it at all but I have been getting sick and I am linking it to that. Hopefully they can hold out a bit longer til summer for me to get it done.

Teeth and toes, very painful, sympathies but in my experience the sooner you get your teeth sorted out the quicker you will feel better as they can effect your whole general health...just my thoughts.

Its actually possible to grow a second set of adult teeth or to have old tooth fragment push through the gums. Don't know which happened to me but after my gums healed 6 months passed and another tooth pushed through my gums...very weird lol.

Have no fear Bev!
I was like you, and terrified of having to have it done. Especially when they told me that one of my top right molars had blocked the top right wisdom tooth from coming in, and as a result they were both grinding together as the wisdom tooth tried to come in, not to mention my bottom wisdom teeth which there was no room in my gum line for and was literally pushing my front bottom teeth together - i was in so much frickin pain every day i could not even think straight - i let it go as long as i could and finally went in and figured id do 2 at a time - well the doc didnt want to do that and said he wanted to do all 4.
I was so scared bev, but after it was all said and done i didnt know what i had been so scared for. Make sure you get put to sleep. I chose the IV , not the gas, the IV works better and has an almost 0% rate of patients waking up. I remember literally asking them if they ever had anyone not go under no matter how much they gave them, to waking up 2-3 hours later, out of a deep dream, and the doc saying "were all done, i went ahead and pulled that molar to so it wouldnt be a problem down the road" lol so i had 5 teeth taken out at once.
You are numb the rest of the day, and the doc will give ya good strong pain killers so the rest of the time just veg out on the couch & try to sleep - Dont smoke cigs or anything else in fear of dry socket (ya dont want that) and you will be just fine i promise, its not 1/100th as bad of a recovery as i thought, the pain killers really help that process along though!

Im here for ya if ya need support or have questions Wisdom teeth

I did not know this either. Very odd but I guess you learn something new everyday.

Thank you so much for your helpful advice and reassurance. And, yes I am very afraid of dental procedures and the pain associated as I had dental surgery when I was six years old and still remember the horrible pain as they did not medicate me properly. I could feel the incision on the inside of my lip. I do not know why they did not just put me out as you mentioned. That would have been so much more preferrable and safe as my mother was right there with me. All the information you gave is helpful and reassures me that things would be fine if I need to go in for future dental surgery. Wisdom teeth

My dentist has taken all of my 4 wisdom teeth out couple of years ago, 1 per month and after every visit my head looked like a potato and I was excused from work for a week every month.

My life is better now and good part about it is that dentist advised me to eat as much ice cream as I can to reduce the pain. I gained couple of pounds, but that's all. Wisdom teeth

I know I'll eventually have to get my wisdom teeth pulled out, but the scary thing for me is that I don't know when I'll have to get them pulled, although I think it won't be as bad as I assume it's going to be.

You might feel discomfort for a few days after the dental surgery but as he said, you will have good medications to relieve the pain so there should be no fear.

I got them out and am doing fine. I feared for nothing. It really was not too bad. Only got 2 out on my left side but it was a breeze.

They healed nicely thanks so much. I feel much better and am glad that I bit the bullet and had them out.

Sometimes, dental surgery is unavoidable. It's very good we have all these great dental care options now. I can only imagine the nightmare of dealing with wisdom tooth pain back in the stone ages or earlier when there was no such thing as dentists.

Yes I know. The pain was too much to bear that I could not even sleep. Tooth pain is the worst kind of pain in my book.

Teeth issues are the worst. Many will let tooth issues go but in reality as soon as you have a tooth issue you need to get it taken care of.

Yes! :/

And, tooth pain causes my head to ache, which usually affects my vision and then I cannot work well as the pain makes it intolerable to look at the computer screen. For that reason, I am always trying to preventing headache pain even from toothache. I am so glad you are feeling better now. c:

I had my wisdom teeth removed about ten years ago and it was painful to recover. But the pain before hand was so much worse, recovery was nothing by comparison.

When I see the kind of pain that people must go through when dealing with their wisdom teeth, I truly have to feel blessed. I'm 25 and my wisdom teeth have broken through already, and I basically have an extra set of chompers. I suppose it's genetic because there isn't a single person in my family history who has had to get their wisdom teeth removed. We really are quite fortunate, as it saves both time, money, and pain. I hope that everything works out well for you, and that you get some relief soon.

I have heard of wisdom teeth and it is something I have not witnessed before. Considering how painful such things can be, I'm not planning to have it soon.

I was in a lot of pain when my wisdom teeth came out, so a dentist told me those were going to be a pain in the butt my whole life. However, they could fit by themselves there, and I've had no issues with them anymore. Many dentists have told me to remove them, but that's a lot of money, and if they are good, with no problems, I don't see the point of taking them out. I've seen some extractions of those, and that requires antibiotics and pain killers, which are expensive too, not to mention the recovery.
