Is it possible to sell or lease a subdomain to someone else for their own use?

I think it can not sir because the subdomain is derived from the primary domain

Yes, you can. Basically it would mean that you can't post/share anything after selling it. new owner will have right to do anything with that sub-domain/webpage Can you sell a subdomain?

Only the owner of the domain or the owner's legal representative can work out a deal with someone. You are probably referring to something in the form x.y.com where y.com is the domain and x technically stands for the host (node) name. In this case, x.y.com can have a different IP than y.com and DNS is provided by the nameservers of record for domain y.com

Realistically, this could be a tricky situation. For the person buying the subdomain anyway. They have no assurance the domain will be renewed annually. So they cannot be assured all their hard work on their site will be worth it or in vain in the event the subdomain suddenly disappears along with the main domain when the domain owner doesn't renew. That's just one issue, there could be others.

You can but i think the main website is allowed to make changes in the sub domain ! I'm ready to buy sub domain if the site is mashable.com Can you sell a subdomain?

Assuming, a subdomain was even available on such a high profile site, it would cost a lot. Maybe more than it could generate in income.
