Facebook's down? Call 911!

Everyone knows that 911 is just for emergencies. Well almost! Recently, some Los Angeles County residents called the L.A. County Sheriff's Department to complain how Facebook was down for a few hours.

To combat the influx of calls, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant, Sgt. Burton Brink, aka @LASDBrink, tweeted:

"#Facebook is not a Law Enforcement issue, please don't call us about it being down, we don't know when FB will be back up!"

And, it seems more like people are using 911 as a customer complaint hotline rather than to seek emergency assistance.

Turns out, nearly 70% of calls to 911 this year have been non-emergency related, even one instance where a man was calling about not receiving cheese on his hamburger.
