Is Facebook more of a distraction than help to your internet marketing?

Sometimes, I'm finding that it's easy to get wrapped up in trivia over Facebook; checking friends wall posts; playing casual games; looking for funny LOL pics when i should be posting to my Facebook fan page and replying to my Facebook fans.

So for me, the social aspect of Facebook is becoming more of a distraction. Though I'm sure there are many ways to post to Facebook without actually visiting the site, there's no good way to stay up with fans by staying off Facebook.

Are you finding Facebook social aspects to be a distraction? Or, have you learned how to manage the social distractions there to stay focused on your internet marketing efforts so you can continue to earn money?

I think so. It is like email alerts and instant messengers. You see them and instantly lose focus on what you were doing.

I guess Facebook is some kind of a distraction but in fairness to the social media you can also benefit from it with your marketing work. You may agree that we can use Facebook for posting the blurb for our latest content that we desire to get traffic from the people in our network in Facebook. But generally with the Facebook alerts it can ruin our focus when we are deep in our work.

And, if your job is online such as is the situation with many freelancers and writers, then you can lose money getting sidetracked with the social side of Facebook.

If your business part of Facebook is important, then you should learn to separate marketing time from play time. I personally have multiple accounts to do this. When I'm working, I post info, respond to messages, sell services and more. Then I log into my personal account and play around with family and friends on games and what not.

facebook is not a distraction. If you use facebook just to share photos or chat with friends, facebook is of course a distraction because you will be squandering your time. However, if you use facebook to promote your services and products, facebook will always come handly. Since facebook has millions of users, you can reach to a crowd just in a few seconds. There are lots of social media but only facebook has grassroot reach.

When you roam the Facebook posts, that's what you call diversion which means you are relaxing a bit from what you are doing. Can you imagine yourself doing nothing but posting to promote whatever you are promoting and nothing else? Facebook is a hobby for others, they enjoy checking the posts of their friends. And if you enjoy their posts then that's well and good. But you should have a limitation like 30 minutes of roaming in Facebook is enough diversion.
