If you already have a big following on Twitter or Google Plus or any other social network (including your own Friends list on Facebook), then ask those people to like your page.

I agree that the easiest way is what Angie said. no paying, just asking.

That's a good idea. I'm sure they would want to support your page anyway. I'll try that idea.

If you are talking about likes from your Facebook friends, that is easy to answer. First is to post something that is interesting and relevant. If I were your friend, I may not react if your post is about an insect because that is not relevant to me. But if you post something that I can relate to then there is a higher probability that I would click the like button or even comment on your post. I am a dog lover so any post about dogs would surely be appreciated by me.

If you share the best content, you will automatically get likes. By best contents, I mean something that arouses curiosity, is interesting and useful. In order to get more likes you also need to have a large connection. If you have 1000 friends and followers and only 10 percent liked your post, you will get 100 likes. If you have 500 followers and it 10 percent liked, your likes will be just 50.
The key is to build audience and share interesting stuff.
