Something they don't teach you about SEO

What's one thing about search engine optimization that you learned on your own, through hard luck and experience, rather than reading about it online?

I learned that you cannot always trust backlinking services. Pick your SEO service carefully. I don't remember reading that online either.

Don't be an immitator. Always be an innovator. I learned that one on my own and no one bothered saying it online.

Starting out, I copied everyone thinking that would lead me to success. And, I never had any success until I started in with my own thing.

Don't rely on old Seo information. When I first started, I read every blog and forum post that I could about search engine optimization and picked up some very bad advice. Some of the posts must have been years old and contained outdated SEO information.

SEO changes really often! You should always read new articles, forums, etc. to get all the info you need in order to optimize your website! ;)

yes seo is a ever changing mechanism and google update its algorithm on monthly basis so you have to update your idea through latest topic don't try to read older post.

Only reading can not help you much, you need to come out with innovative ideas.

All the SEO methods that I know are from this site. I am ignorant even of the meaning of SEO when first registered here and it took me a long time before I touched on that subject. It gave me a headache to digest what I had been reading and I had to go back to a particular discussion just to fully understand. But I know that there are still a lot to learn because I am just an elementary student in SEO.
