How to remove a page from Google Search

There are a few pages on my site that have paid downloads that accidentally got indexed by Google, so now the content is open for anyone who wants it. I could just move the page but that would also mean updating other things. I just want to remove the page from Google search. Can that be done?

And if so, how is this done?

You may be able to do this in Google Webmaster Tools. Try this link: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/url-removal

Thanks for sharing this technique of removing a web page from Google Search. This has been a big issue in the office website of my husband because he used to supervise the site and the old site kept on appearing in the search list. We don’t know why the old site was still in existence but that’s another issue with the previous web designer. Anyway, I hope this tool can remove the unwanted web page in my husband’s office website.

Add nofollow and noindex meta code to the pages you want to de-index from Google and other search engines.

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

Place the above HTML code in between <head> and </head> tags preferably right after the <head> tag.
