Recover it with your phone number

How can you do that? You can use a single phone number to verify a number of Gmail addresses.

No not my gmail account. Thank goodness. I know that my contacts get enough crap sent to them so I am glad that it has never happened.

if you don't recover your password you can contact gmail :
  • Contact Google with as many details that allow them to identify you as the account holder as possible
  • http:// support.google.com/accounts/bin/request.py?&service=mail

Just add the contacts on your new account. It is not that hard to do. Or send out an email to everyone letting them know that you are switching your accounts.

So how do you protect your account from hackers?

Change your Gmail password often. If it's more than a year old, there is risk of hacking.

If you have provided your cell number there, then recover it with that number, otherwise some laws has been settled by the G mail recovery you should pass them.

I don't have my cell phone anymore, I would be out of luck.

I think 2 step verification can protect strongly to hacked by hacker. And do not disclose your email as cheap value.

My gmail has never been hacked, however, Google has sent me emails a couple of time informing me that my someone tried to access my account. I immediately checked my account and reset my password. If you have verified your account with your phone number it is really easy to gain control of your hacked account.

For Google account Recovery you need to follow these steps:
  • Initially, the Google account recovery page is browsed on the internet.
  • When the page loads, the user is prompted to enter the email address of the account being retrieved and the Next button is clicked.
  • On the next page, the Forgot Password link is clicked because the user does not remember it.
  • The recovery process begins with this new page. The user is prompted to enter any last remembered password for the account. If the user does not remember, click Try otherwise.
  • The next page will have the option of recovering your Google Account by phone number. The user must enter the phone number associated with the account. Google sends a code in the phone number that is later entered in the specified field. If the user does not have access to the phone, click Try otherwise.
  • Finally, there is the option of recovery by email recovery. The user is prompted to enter the alternate email linked to the account. The email will have the verification code that needs to be entered in the blank field on the screen.
  • The option to create and confirm the password will be there. Therefore, the password can be recovered.
