Bing is the decision engine

When Bing first came out, they touted themselves as 'the decision engine'. Unlike Google which serves up multiple choices that can often lead to confusion, Bing claims to help you simplify the search process by only presenting what you need to come to a decision.

Do you think Bing is really a good search tool for making decisions?

Not really, if you are living outside US. I live in India and most of the decisions which bing proposes are not at all useful or sometimes they are irrelevant Bing is the decision engine

I have never really used Bing that much so I can not answer. But I can see Sheks point about being irrelevant.

I am not really a huge fan of Bing. I am not sure when the last time that I used it was.

They can say what they want, I find Bing to be very annoying and do not much care for it.

Somehow, Bing got installed as my default search engine on Firefox and now it comes up with search results whenever I type a search term from the browser bar. And, it's annoying as I can't change it back to Google.

Microsoft refers to Bing as a decision engine. With nearly 240 million Web sites on the internet as of July 2009, you can imagine how vital an effective search method can be to the success of any search engine...

I don’t really understand what that term decision engine means because when I would use Bing, the contents of the search list is far from the search list of Google in terms of relevance. In a test of search that I regularly do, Bing could only come up with 2 or 3 links while Google has 5 or more. In that case, what decision are they talking about?

I think this is marketing angel and not a very good one if you ask me. Having less search results is not something you want when you are frantically looking for something. The more options you have the better. This is bing making excuses for its lack of search results and no matter how they want to you can't spin it the way they want to spin it.If you have no search results you have no search results.

Nope, if it's true, then Bing should be ranked number one or has a significant share of users but it's not. In my opinion there's no way Bing can match Google's might.

Well it's now 2018 and Bing has only crumbs to show with only 8? of worldwide searches attributed to it. While Google has dominion over a big piece of the pie 75? of searches worldwide were powered by Google.
