Is Bing a fail?

If you look at Bing search results, they are similar to Google's results. And, there is little to distinguish Bing from Google. In that way do you think Bing is a fail as a search engine, since they can only copy what Google is already doing and not innovate?

Bing was actually caught copying Google search results. I think their crawler is sub-par to Google, tbh, which is probably why they copied Googles results.

And, I remember when this scandal broke. They were talking like how Google engineers stormed a Microsoft convention yelling about conspiracies to steal Google search results. They made a huge scene and it was all over the news. Google people have amazing passion for their work to not want it stolen in that way. Ironically, Bing acted like it was no big deal saying:

"We use over 1,000 different signals and features in our ranking algorithm," Bing vice president Harry Shum said, referring to the mathematical code that search engines use to choose their results.

Apparently, Google is one of those signals.

I would think that this would be some sort of blackhat technique. I do not think that they should get by with it.

Bing is not a fail. There are many many people that really like to use it so there is no way it could be a fail.

I do agree that bing is a fail when you compare it with google. But if you see, they have beat yahoo and few more popular search engines to be #2, that is quite commendable.

Bing is not a fail. Infact they are been doing pretty good in my book. I use them from time to time.

lol.. I noticed this long long ago. To addon, I also observed that bing is very bad at recognizing mistyping of a search query!

I would not see them as a fail since there are so many that say that they like bing . I say that is a success.

Bing is not a fail, it is just that Google has more popularity.

If Google ever gets closed down, I can see Bing becoming number 1 search engine in the world.

I would not call it a complete fail. It will never be as popular as some of the other search engines but it is not doing too bad either.

I'm sure both companies sued each other in a civil court over the matter.

I do not consider it a fail, it worked for me when got set up the Bing webmaster tools. I have got enough ranking to keywords in Bing search engines. Not a bad search engine

In my eyes, yes as I do not much care for bing. However I do think that it is pretty well established and many for some reason do like it.

On the contrary, I don’t think that Bing is just copying the search results of Google because I do a check once in a while of Bing and Yahoo just for my personal research. As always, I find the Google search list to be having more relevant links to my search while the search list of Yahoo and Bing pale in comparison. Take note that Bing is owned by Microsoft and it is out of line to think that it is just copying the search results of Google.

I agree that Bing is not a failure. I think that Bing is just not living up to its potential as a search engine especially because they are owned by microsoft. I think over the last few years that microsoft has lost its way. It did not innovate the way it could have. I think that this is the reason that Bing is not doing that well. We really need competition for Google. Bing needs to incentivize people to create content for them. Its as simple as that.
