Too many banner ads affect to audiences?

Hello,

I'm having too many banner ads bought by my advertisers on my webmaster forum called (Webmaster Sun) and now I must limit number of banner ads on my forum sidebar.
According to you, Too many banner ads affect to audiences and visitors will leave site cause banner ad?

I don't think you have too many banner ads when compared to similar forums with ads everywhere. At least yours are kept to one section instead of having several horizontals at the top before the content, which I find annoying on other forums.

Plus, lots of banners mean you're successful at filling ad space, which is a good thing, right?

I don't think you have too many at all. I'm glad to see you have so many! As long as they're under the fold (which they are), you won't have a problem

Banners are how you monetize a forum, so it's understandable that you would have at least a few. And, even your forum members would expect it as this is common on most internet marketing forums.

Without advertising, how will you keep your forum going? Someone has to pay for the hosting bills. And, if a forum is not profitable in some way, it's more likely to shut down. So, anything you can do, even with private advertising/banners is likely to be acceptable. Just explain to your forum members about your advertising policy. If they love your forum, the members are likely to be more understanding.

Do the flashing banners distract you? If I have a migraine, they always hurt my eyes to see that flashing light and it's hard to deal with. So I use an ad blocker, except for now on my new computer where I don't have it installed yet. Still setting things up the way I want them.

Actually I also use adblocker. There are few sites, when you open them, some Ad will open in a new browser. Those are really bothering & irritating...

I was so surprised to see that some of our favorite sites are infested with banner ads all over the page. The Adblocker does such an effective job of eliminating ads from the web page. Browsing ad free is a very peaceful experience. Though some sites do not allow you to access content, such as movies online if you have ad blocking software enabled.

I was so surprised to see that some of our favorite sites are infested with banner ads all over the page. The Adblocker does such an effective job of eliminating ads from the web page. Browsing ad free is a very peaceful experience. Though some sites do not allow you to access content, such as movies online if you have ad blocking software enabled.

Think about the ramifications.

Hey Asmodeus you are right!! I respect your thought.
I had a blog which had almost 200-300 visitors daily(worldwide). Few months ago I put an Ad in my Blog. like if some one click, ad will open in a new browser & it will increase the money in my ad providing account . But after few days my blog's daily visitor decreased. I thought after one visiting there will no one revisit my blog, so I removed that ad from my blog.

So, what do you use that's not "annoying"? Some people think that text ads are ok, but then you see those sites with underlined word ads everywhere, which is also annoying. Nobody cares about other people's websites...that's sad, but true, so as you don't care about their's, other people don't care about yours.

All I'm pointing out, as the voice of reason, is that, as more and more people find this and that annoying, then they find ways to block it, and in the end most people trying to make a few bucks the traditional way will suffer.

As an example, I had a couple of sites offering content in exchange for doing CPA surveys. Are those things annoying? You betcha, but the visitor gets content they don't have to pay a cent for just for doing one, so they shouldn't really complain...its the cost of doing business. If site owners stop offering content because visitors don't want to view the ad, click the ad, do the survey, buy the product because they get it free on some torrent site, or whatever, then the future will be bleak indeed.

As a content writer for websites, you may think you're immune because your product is your service, but keep in mind that you're being hired by website owners who monetize THEIR own sites as they see fit, so if they can't use their banner ads or whatever, anymore, then they go out of business and no longer need your services. The forums will no longer pay for posts because they can't afford to...no one will see their ads anymore. For shame...

I’m not really turned off by banner ads if the design is not annoying. What I don’t like in some websites with their sidebar advertisements is the blinking banner. It gets to my eyes so I tend to leave. Another bad design for my taste is the too much black in the page. And then the banner is all read or flashing orange. Again, designs like that hurts my eye. Perhaps too many advertisements is okay with me as long as the design is not offending to my eyes.

Excessive advertising, including banner ads in header, footer and sidebar and in text ad (using more than three units) is a great turn off for me. If I see too many ads, I will not interact with the site. Therefore, you should discard your banner ads, if you cannot discard, you can spread out your banners. Instead of using all banner on your home page, you can use banner ads on specific pages and threads.
