How long does it take for traffic to build up to a new site?

I'm starting a new blog and want some tips on how to build up traffic. How long does it take for the traffic to start showing up from Google search and other social media sites?

You can get traffic within seconds using social media - as long as you've built up a network in that particular social platform.

Now if you're talking about organic search results, then no one can tell you for sure when (or if) you'll have your pages on your website ranking for your particular keyword phrases. It all depends on how well your site is optimized and other factors.

I guess you are right because when I post something in Facebook, my loyal friends who are online would instantly give it a like and sometimes a comment. I think if I will promote a website not all will respond but definitely there will be a like and a corresponding click to the link. Therefore that is instant traffic from the website. We have done that test for our videos on Youtube.

Before going for social media, try to build a quality website. Traffic is not everything, you need to keep the bounce rate low too.

If have good number of loyal followers in social media, your new website will start receiving traffic from day one (because you shared with them). However, you will have to wait for months, sometimes even six months, in order to get organic traffic. Organic traffic builds from search hits and search engines will trust old websites more.

I have seen people getting good amount of traffic in 1 week or so. Some people take 1 year or even more. So it all depends on the content. And it also depends on the quality of the content being linked by others. I have found that some people just want to build the website based on the hype. And then traffic never really works in their favor. So they choose shrotcuts. It can't be that easy for the website or app when it's being published on the web.

As per the experience of a friend who put up a site and promoted it offline and online, it took them one month to have a thousand hits. And after another month, the number of hits had doubled. But they were relentless in their campaign online and even offline aside from asking their friends for help in spreading the word. So maybe if you have sympathetic friends who can help you in that part then the build up of traffic will be faster.
