Where do you get your best ideas?

Some of my best ideas come from print magazines such as Entrepreneur magazine and others based on business or social marketing techniques. It's fun to read how real world businesses are handling situations with social marketing and gaining new customers. Often, the printed articles are more informative than the ones I find at blogs online.

Most of my ideas for blog posts come from what I'm doing on my hobby so I rarely run out of ideas. And, for times when I don't feel like writing, I have a vast stock of pre-written blog posts that were created earlier so that I can just as easily publish those on a whim. All that content is mine, so I'm free to use it as I want.

I tend to get my best ideas when I'm cuddled up in my nest, thinking about my day. I do a lot of thinking, but it's when I take time to reflect upon things... In the peace and quiet... In the dark, with my eyes closes... My mind floats off...

That is when I get great ideas, before I'm whisked away into a far away place.

I like to unplug myself from the machine, and that's when my best ideas come to me. Time spent away from the computer and internet pay off big in creative thinking. And, when I'm able to get back online I can finish up work very quickly. Conversely I could spend 12 hours in front of the computer and not get half the same work done. I like it better this way as it lets me have a real life, not just all my time spent online.

You can get idea from blogs, so try to read blogs.

This is true whatever niche you are in, whether it's recipes and cooking or relationships or SEO. So many good ideas on blogs to read. Then you can decide if what's being said was written the right way or if you can add to it in some relevant way.

I am a subscriber to several blogs that are similar to mine and have found great inspiration in the writing of others. In addition to reading the blogs, I like to comment and interact with the blog authors. Most times, our conversations like this will inspire new topic ideas in my head that are maybe similar but not identical (such as they continue the theme) to what was originally written by the other person.

Sometimes they just pop into my head. I have a notebook that I write my ideas down in so I never forget them.

Just thoughts that pop into my head and then I write them down to write about.

I tried out this idea and it's really working for me. Where do you get your best ideas?

Sometimes, it just helps me to get off the computer when I'm stuck on a certain part of an article. The time away clears my mind and I always get great ideas.

This is a tough one to answer because this makes me realize that I am only comfortable with my niche that is about pets. When I am not at home with the subject matter, I need to make some research to learn. Let’s say I am commissioned to write about sail boats then I probably would talk with a seaman or someone in the naval forces. And then I would make a research. Those interviews are the spark plugs that would kickoff my interest in the subject matter so the researching will not be too difficult.

Sometimes I get my ideas from reading books, articles, reviews and even comments of people. I'll read an article and BAM, I would see something that I can use and I'll innovate on it using my own ideas.
