I don't always work for big amount of money. Maximum time I agree to do work for less money. Because I believe that today if I work for $3 then someday someone will hire me for their $30,000 work..

I don't want to work for less money unless I have worked for the person before and I know that they truly appreciate the effort I have put forth.

There are many people who would work for less money. The reason being is that they come from different sides of the globe where the living requirements are a lot lower. For example, a person such as myself who resides in the UK would not ever sell services for under $10 but there are people in South Asia who are willing to offer that service for $4. That is because the living requirements are lower there. They can survive on $4 earnings whereas I in the UK would find no use of $4 earnings.

I do not like working for what I am not worth. But that is just my personal opinion. I believe that I am worth something and have my mind made up.

Think of what your time is actually worth. Though you might think that lowering your prices will result in more business, it will just add to your headaches. The only client you will attract at cheaper prices will be more picky and demanding and expect everything for nothing. Keep your prices higher and you will attract a better quality of client who knows what you are worth and is willing to pay for it.

Double your base price and then periodically give a 25% discount off that price. In that way, when you get an order, you will still be earning at least a quarter more than you otherwise would.

It depends on the type of work. I used to write as a co-blogger without any mention of compensation. I hastily agreed because I knew that I would enjoy the work. And I was right. However, it was really a big surprise when I received my share of the revenue. To me, money has lesser value than enjoyment.

I don't like working for less because it just wasting time for nothing but if the economy is biting hard and I need some money, oh well, I could just do like a one-off thing. But really wouldn't like to keep working for less.

Normally I ask $13 for 500 word SEO article. However, if I do not have any assignment, I am free or I need money, I can do an SEO article for just $10. I may also lower my fees if I get volume work. For example. I will charge $13 for one 500 word article. However, if the client commissions me 10 articles, I can lower my fee to $12.

That $13 for a 500-word article is a good value and even if the pay goes down to $10. However, it is not easy to find clients who are in need of articles and who are willing to pay that much. I had an offer of much less than that for a 500-word article that I just ignored because it is not worth the time and effort. An article is not easy to write so I agree that $10 is the minimum value for a 500-word article.

How much you can charge for your work depends on the kind of clients you have. I once worked with a client, who paid me $5 for 100 words, which is the best rate I have ever received for my work. This client was a professor in some Canadian university and wanted critique for Indian poems. Since I had read a lot of Indian poetry, the job was kind of easy for me.
I have also written a guide book just for $50. There is no such thing as a fixed rate when it comes to work online. You have to compromise.
