How to Start Being a Freelancer

When you have first decided that you want to be a freelancer, you might think you have no idea where to begin. Here are some good tips that will get you far in the world of being a freelancer.

First off, an excellent idea might be to "brand" yourself. You might want to come up with a neat or catchy name for your services, or you may even wish just to use your own name. Whatever you decide, you will then use this to get the attention of others are that are looking for your services.

Also a great idea is to make a website. Making a website will allow you to give others info about yourself, things that you have accomplished, as well as showing off your portfolio. Make sure that the website is one that many will be able to remember and also easy to spell.

You will also have to think about a price. Remember that if you are first starting you are not going to be able to get what freelancers who have been writing for 10 years are getting. Usually most freelancers have to start out small so their clients can get a taste of what they have to offer.

Remember that starting out as a freelancer is not always easy, but if you dedicate yourself to it, you will eventually make it!

The first idea about branding yourself really works. I brand my image from one forum to the next by using the same avatar and name and it's the same on my Facebook page (with same avatar). Over time, forum owners have come to recognize me and my work and it's really helped to increase my earnings on seocheckout. And, though I started out with some lower priced $10.00 services, I had to raise my prices as it's not usually possible to earn well enough just with $10.00 gigs alone. I would just suggest having a sample lower priced gig that allows potential customers to try out a few of your services (such as 10 forum posts or 10 social bookmarks for $10.00) and then if they like it, to pay for a much larger service, such as something which is $30 or more.

Having a central location such as a freelance website where you can list all your accomplishments and link to other sites which showcase your work is just smart business as it shows your potential clients your quality work.

Having your own blog to journal your progress through the freelancer life will be a good idea as it will allow you to share your own freelancer experiences in posts and then later look back at your progress to see how far you've come with your career.

I would also want to incorporate all of my work in the same area, but I'm not so sure how to do that with out messing up my SEO. I sell affiliate products as well, and write the articles around ALL of them, then place them in the appropriate sites that I have.

Finding ways to interconnect everything in one, deems itself to be difficult. I'm still thinking on it though...

I can understand your concerns. If your affiliate blog has nothing to do with your freelance work, then you are not likely to be able to incorporate your new content easily. However, there is a possibility, you could create a section on your blog that chronicles your work process, such as information on how you write your reviews, your current freelance projects as related to your specific niche. I don't know if this would be applicable to your situation as I have not seen your blog and not really sure what you are blogging about there. I'm sure you will think of some way to make it work.

Ever since I started freelancing, I had been using Corzhens as my user name. It looks unique although it doesn't sound cute. That name is a merger of my real name Corazon Henson. And for the branding, I would be making sensible posts as a content provider for forums. This is not to brag but there are many writers who already know me as one decent writer.

To me when one that thinks about being a freelancer, should think diligence,patience, and passion.A lot of people just run off at the slightest problem with freelancing.

Alot of people comes with the mindset of laziness, believing it all about lazily away to make money and at the end of the day,the realize they are not making enough and the next minutes they're ready to jump ship.

One must be physically and emotionally ready to freelance or else it turns out a failure.
