Starting a forum for love or money

Would you ever start a forum that you knew would not ever be monetarily successful, if only because you loved the topic of the forum?

What if you knew of a really 'hot' money making forum niche, but you really hated that niche. Would you start the forum anyway, just to cash in on the niche to make some money?

There's nothing wrong with starting a forum for personal reasons. If it means something to you, then that's all that matters.

Don't let lack of a profit motive stop you.

Many times a labor of love forum will stir such loyalty in members.

Typically such forums are privately funded through donations.

Every niche can be monetized. And I would suggest you to create forum on the subject you love. Its more important.

Find your passion and then create a forum about that, same as with blogging.

If you love something then it's going to be successful because you will take the time needed to make it so.

I would not start a forum unless I really liked that subject. I would not even think about the money involved as I don't really think forums are meant for earning money anyway but for gathering liked minded friends together.

You can start a forum for the love of forum, however, you cannot sustain your forum for long if you are only concerned with love. You cannot go on spending money to manage the forum just because you love doing this. You need money to renew domain and hosting. How long can you continue without making any money from the forum.
You can start a forum for love, but you need to make money from the forum to make work for you.

If you create a forum for your interest or passion, I guess money is not an object. And it wouldn’t matter if the forum would be dynamic. Maybe as long as there are posters then it would be fine. But a forum to profitable needs to be dynamic with a big number of members. You need to exert more effort and your focus is on the traffic. That would be creating pressure on your part and I probably wouldn’t like that.

There are a lot of forums and blogs out there, that was created solely because of love and passion for the niche.I have a recipe blog that's I share some cooking skills free.I didn't really create the blog for money anyway, so I'm not bothered.So same with forums owners some just create just for passion.
